Chapter 16
Six months later…..
Sarah, Nadine and Nicola were all sitting around the large table at Xenomania’s studios drinking coffee when they heard shouting outside. Nadine stood up and walked to the window and looked out to see Cheryl and Kimberley’s chauffeur driven car pulling into the car park with a hoard of paparazzi calling their names.
“Aye just as I thought, they’re here!” Nadine said “The paps don‘t leave them alone do they?”
“Well they’re used to it by now, they couldn’t go out of their front doors without the paps being there for months, at least it‘s dying down a bit now” Sarah replied.
A few minutes later Cheryl and Kimberley entered the room, hugged the rest of the girls and sat down. They all just sat there smiling at each other.
“Well this is it ladies!” Sarah said “Girls Aloud are finally back!”
“I’ll drink to that!” Nicola said as she raised her coffee cup and took a swig.
“Me too” said Sarah “Wish I had something stronger than coffee though!”
“Bloody hell Sarah, it’s only 9 o’clock in the morning! You’re an alky I’m sure of it!” Nadine said.
Sarah started singing the Amy Winehouse song “They tried to make me go to rehab but I said no no no” and she burst out laughing.
The others all sat there shaking their heads and laughing. Just then Brian and Miranda walked into the room. They gave each of the girls a hug and then sat down.
“Right then girls” Brian said “Great to have you all back! You’ve been away too long! We’ve got a song we’d like you to listen to. I think you’ll like it!”
“I think it’s one of the best we’ve ever come up with” Miranda said.
Brian got up and put the demo track in the CD player while Miranda handed each of the girls a copy of the lyrics. Cheryl and Kimberley looked at each other and smiled as they saw the title of the song written on the paper….. ‘NO MORE LIES’.
They listened to the song a few times and then Brian asked them what they thought…
“I love it!” Cheryl said.
“Me too” said Kimberley.
“That’s a f*ckin winner for sure!” Sarah said as she kicked her legs in the air excitedly.
“I think we all agree that it’s brilliant Brian!” Nadine said. Nicola nodded her head with a big smile on her face.
“Well, it’s Girls Aloud with a more mature vibe but catchy enough for the kids to like it” Miranda said.
“I’m really pleased you like it ladies, so… how about releasing this as your first come back single?” Brian asked.
“Absolutely!” Cheryl said as the others all nodded in agreement.
Brian and Miranda smiled and then played more tracks on the demo CD which contained quite a few songs that they had written during the time Girls Aloud were on their break.
“We’ll give each of you a copy of the demo CD. We’d like you to take them home with you and listen to it a few more times then we’ll meet up with you again in a week or so and discuss which tracks you think we should put together on the album ok?”Brian said “and if you’re not happy with any of the lyrics or musical arrangements, we can try making some changes to suit you all”
