So, here's a bit about them. I'm basing them around Greek and roman architecture for some of their forms, and they are metallic, so they range between mineral colors. In much of their body and within their markings are imbedded jewels, and the type of jewels dictates your rank. For example:
Rubies are nobles and such
Emeralds are warriors and soldiers
Topaz are scribes other wise dragons
Amethysts are almost always female, they are the hunters. Male amethysts are EXTREMELY good hunters, better than most of the females because they are rarely born.
Sapphires are merchants and artisans and the like.
Diamonds are animus males
Moonstones are animus females
Pearls are common folk
Aquamarine are scavengers
Opals are nurses and doctors and such
Peridots are children caretakers
You are born with the gems, therefore you can't change them with age. For the first two free, I will let you choose ANYTHING, even the male amethyst. The first one has been claimed by KryptonDragon and the other is still open. Good luck.
