-Are you Micah Regan?.- She asked.
-What?.- He replied confused with another question.
-Is your real name Micah Regan?.- She asked again.
-How do you know that?.- Another question to avoid the first one. But she knew he would not answer unless she told him who she was in the first place.
-Because I'm Kaila August.- She replied and that answered all of the questions in Micah's mind.
-Kaila? How, when, where, what?!
-I know you have a lot of questions and... to be honest I have a lot too that you have to answer me.- She giggled.- But, how have you been? You know aside from the deadly video game in which you almost died a few hours ago.
He laughed as well, although it kind of hurt to laugh because of the wounds he had taken in the forest earlier that afternoon.
-I've been ok, I guess. Not complaining, although I am a little bit concerned about my dog...
-You have a dog? Why does that even surprise me? You have always been a dog person. Actually, now that you mention it I am a little concerned about my cat and who's taking care of her. This was supposed to be a two week trip after all...
-A cat? Really? Well, you did say often that you wanted a cat and couldn't because your sister was allergic so, I get it... Wait, you said two week trip? Don't you live in Japan?
-What? No, I love the culture but I could never... Do YOU live in Japan?
-No, I just came for the video game. Some company invited me to try it out.
-Oh my god. Same with me.- They smiled at all the coincidences.- So where DO you live?
-I live in the UK. London to be specific.
-You moved to the country I went to in exchange?
-Hey! It wasn't my call. I was transferred by my former job.
-Former job?
-Oh god, do we have a lot to talk about.
-Yeah, I'm realizing just now how much we need to catch up... it is crazy. I mean we haven't seen each other in what? Almost 15 years...?
-Or more. I can't remember. Damn, it's been a while.
-Yeah.- She smiled in nostalgia.- Y'know? I had a HUGE crush on you back in High School.
-What? Get outta here. You did not! If you did you would've told me, you were always so open to me and I to you.
-I know, but...- She laughed a little bit at the thought of it.- I kinda didn't realize until the day I told you I was leaving. I was planning on telling you that day until my parents called me and told me that I they had accepted me on the exchange program...
-And I was planning on telling you until you came up to me and told me you were leaving...- He interrupted.
-Wait, you had a crush on me too?
-Yeah.- He scrached the back of his neck in embarrassment.- Couldn't you tell?
-No, I was kind of ignorant at the time.- She laughed. And then he laughed as well.
-I mean, we were kids after all back then. We didn't know what we really wanted in life or how it was going to be...
-Yeah. But we're adults now.
-I know... I kinda wanna go back.- He threw an honest awkward laugh in to the air.
-Me too.- She smiled at him.- How are you feeling by the way? From the wounds and everything.
-Better. Thanks by the way, didn't know people still had the healing feature.
-A lot don't anymore. And the people who aren't Beaters definitely never had it so, I just kinda lucked out.
-What are the odds of finding my oldest high school best friend/crush and that she is in this specific MMORPG AND she has the so called removed healing feature that nobody in the game has now AND she saves my life from a bunch of murderer rapists?
-I don't know, you tell me. Fate works in very strange ways. I'm just surprised we hadn't ran into each other sooner, specially in the beta version.
-Yeah, that is so weird... how did you recognize me?
-Your birth mark. That sucka is always there, I swear I would recognize you anywhere because of that thing.
-And you did.
-Yeah, but still I had to make sure it was you. It could've been a different person or, it could've been a different scar or, I thought I was just being crazy and confusing all of this because then again, what were the odds of finding each other again right?
-Right.
-I'm glad you found me.
-We found each other.
-No, you found me. If it weren't for you I would be dead by now and I...
-Hey, you saved my life. If it weren't for you I would have bled to death in the game and died in real life. We saved each other, we found each other. And i could not be more grateful.- He smiled.
She kissed him. Maybe she had forgotten about it but this was the moment she had been waiting for ever since she was 17 years old. She had missed him so much and she needed this.
The same could be said from his point of view. He missed her everyday of the past 15 years he just had put those feelings aside and focused on the here and now but, now that here and now was happening and those feelings rose all over again filling him with love for the girl he had lost long ago.
They had missed each other to guts and finally after all these years they had lighted the spark that they had forgotten about 15 years ago. After all in this game they could die at any minute so they didn't have a care in the world. They turned off their cameras and continued kissing and kissing and maybe something else...
