Even though I'm a nerd (seriously, I'm only 13 and I've published 2 poetry books already) girls ask me out like crazy! Yesterday, Jennifer Breake asked me out. But of course, I said no, because I don't want to go out with stuck-up popular girls. Or geeks. Or cheerleaders (well, my best friend Courtney is a cheerleader, but she's nice and definitely not stuck-up). Or anyone. At least not yet. I'm not quite into girls. And that's final.
Yesterday may have been the best day of my life. I dorm with my twin sister, Kitty (and don't ask who's older because our parents never told us. They think the older one would this he's/she's the boss), Courtney and Luke. For one, there was no school. Here at Nashtial, we get a lot of days off (every time it's one of the teacher's birthdays, we have off. Pretty cool, huh?). Anyways, I was sitting in my dorm room with Kitty when Courtney stormed in. Her face was as red as a tomato and her hazel hair was stuck to her face. She looked really angry. She started cursing in Greek, since she's half Greek. And that means she's REALLY mad. Don't talk to her when she curses. So we let her shower and when she came out, her face was red from crying. Kitty and I went over to comfort her and she told us what had made her so mad: "So, you know Jennifer Breake, right? So Coach Leaza wanted to make me captain for next year, right? So she chose me, everyone applauded, yay for me! But then Jennifer Breaks told her that I dropped her once, even though I didn't, and that it was on purpose! And so Coach Leaza told me I couldn't be captain anymore and made Jennifer Breake captain!" Kitty looked ready to pounce on someone (I wonder who that could be...).
"That is so unfair!" I exclaimed. "You know what, we're going to march down to the principles office right now and tell her what happened. She'll have to kick Jennifer Breake off the team!" I looked longingly at Luke, who was busy sorting his baseball cards. If anyone can convince a grown-up, it's Luke. I don't know how he does it, but grown-ups always listen to him. He's saved us a bunch of Fs.
Luke noticed the silence and looked at us, realizing we were all looking at him. "Huh?", he mumbled, clearly confused at what was happening. Kitty sighed and rolled her eyes. My sister and Luke didn't get along very well, don't ask why. Probably because Luke isn't always...listening. He never listens to other people's conversations, and that probably causes him to not listen. Kitty, on the other hand, hates it when people don't listen to her. And in school, she hangs on to every word the teachers say. One of the reasons she's a nerd!
So I quickly explained everything to Luke and he smiled: "No prob, bro." Then he added: "And Courtney."
And with that, the 4 of us marched off to the principle's office. Little did I know how much my life would change from that moment on...
