Title: Perfection

'Its not symmetrical dammit!'

'There's three of them all perfect, of course it's symmetrical!'

'Three is no where near eight, nor is it even.'

You sighed and looked up at the mistletoe, the three pieces arranged perfectly. The white berried were still frosted over and you began to wonder.

Kid had been acting weird lately- he'd been hanging out with Spirit all the time, guarding his cabinet closely and refusing to sit near you without arguing over something or another.

You walked away from him silently, grabbing your keys from the wooden table as you went. You couldn't be bothered to grab your black coat on the way out for the first time in ages.

Kid had given it to you about a year ago and, even though he complained about how worn it was, you utterly refused to get rid of it.

You turned your keys in the lock, noticing how all of them were cut in a symmetrical patten and you began to wonder why he was so obsessed over something as simple as symmetry.

Your shoes crunched the thin layer of snow beneath you, the door slamming loudly behind you as you began to walk away. You knew where you were going and no one could stop you now.

'Hey, I bet you couldn't.'

Two pairs of footsteps followed behind you and instantly the paranoid part of you kicked in, presuming that they were following you.

You began to quicken your pace and, after two or so minutes, you reached the entrance to the woods that you always came to if you wanted to get away from everything real.

You could still hear the footsteps behind you even if they weren't as loud- it was almost as if they were cautious.

You tripped forwards and landed into the bark of an old tree, turning so that your back dug into it.

A puppy stared at you, its tongue hanging out of its mouth as you breathed a sigh of relief. That's when it appeared.

A knife wrapped its frame around your neck and a voice you recognised from somewhere reached your ears.

'Now then, stay ere and don't move- we only want some fun, that clear?'

You sunk down lower, the blade digging harder into your throat as you nodded lightly. Tears were welling into your eyes and all you could see was the puppy growling at you as if seeing you as the threat.

A few yards away you heard a flock of birds flying skywards, probably crows and almost immediately a figure dropped in front of you, the guy that had been threatening you walking up to them and sizing up the opposition as his knife seemed to hover in place even if he wasn't here.

'Kid?'

Your boyfriend turned and smile at you, a pistol in either hand.

'We'll wi-'

His words were cut short as it all happened.

The knife flew from where your neck was and into the strangers hand. The blade cut through the air and into Kid's stomach in a swift moment and the attacker ran away with a hideous laughter following him.

Blood began to trickle from his pale mouth and stomach, his body suddenly slumping into your lap as you began to sob.

Then, he went still.

****~One Week Later~****

'Look who I brought to see his Papa!'

The little puppy writhed in your arms happily, trying to jump onto the hospital bed in front of the both of you.

He jumped at the first chance he got, the tv temporarily distracting you. He jumped onto Kid's stomach causing him to grunt and immediately ran to his face and lick it.

'Hey little guy, cool it.'

'He seems to be house trained so obviously someone left him in te woods.'

'What does it matter? Wait... He has a blue eye and a brown eye!'

'Y-Yeah... Can we still keep him?'

'I already told you, symmetry isn't always perfection.'

And with that, as he stared into your [e/c] orb and your other violet tainted orb he kissed you, slipping the ring on your left hand.
