All trolls start off as small jelly like eggs the color of their blood. When they hatch, they are called Grubs. At this stage, they have small squishy bodies, and are about the size of a chipmunk. They have 3 body segments (not including their head). They have all of their hair and teeth, horns, and 6 little legs called scuttlers. Sea dwellers have fins located on their necks and at the end of their butt. Land dwellers have a pointy ended butt called a nub.
