You burst awake blinded by the bright red room. The metallic cuffs that chain you to the bed blink green and whirrs open. The room is red on all sides except for one. The side with the door as a shining white and next to the door, in a large bold font, reads the number "104."
Scared and confused, you begin to search the room. You can't seem to remember anything at all. You recall your name, who you were, what you were like, but nothing comes to you about how you got into this situation. Besides the bed, door, and yourself, the room is fairly empty. The orange jumpsuit you wear suggests you may be in a prison of sorts, but you can't be too sure. The number "104" also appears on your suit and there is a red dove crudely drawn onto your forearm. A desperate final reminder?
It was you and you alone in this lonely red room and every second seemed like an agonizing eternity. Whether you'll be here for days, weeks, months, or years, you cannot tell, but you decide to make a home out of this room for the time being. Food comes in from a hatch at the bottom of the door. The meals arrive inconsistently, however, as if to prevent you from forming a routine. Today the food is a bowl of buttered corn and as you eagerly dig in, something tasted different. A piece of paper? you think as you spit it out. As you unfold the paper, it presents to you another image of the red dove on your arm. Under the dove is a single word and this word scares you. It both provides assurance that something will happen and provides fear that something will happen. The word simply reads, "Soon."
