'Winner, winner, chicken dinner...'
Those words had been dancing left and right through my head the entire night. I couldn't contain the smile on my face. We all had smiles on our faces... and for our last time, we were doing pretty damn well if you ask me. Alone, I was up over five-hundred thousand dollars doing what I am doing.
Jack, minus one.
Five, plus one.
The count is uh, plus... fourteen.
What we all were doing isn't really considered illegal. It may be frowned upon by many, but it's... legal. We had everything we needed to succeed. But, if we get caught that's a different story.
You may be asking yourself, how am I doing this? It takes a very gifted mind, I have a gifted mind.
That's what got me into all of this mess and I don't even know what to do anymore.
'Winner, winner, chicken dinner...'
Chapter One
"You look nice," I glanced over at the man who's been in my life since the mere age of two. I smiled slightly to myself as I put on my suede black heels. I adjusted my blazer and smoothed out my skirt before looking at myself one last time in the mirror. I smoothed out my pin straight hair one last time before feeling satisfied with the way I look.
"I said you looked nice," His brown eyes were glued to mine from the mirror.
"Just because I didn't answer, doesn't mean I didn't hear you," I turned on my heel and walked over to to bag. "Hell, I have too if I'm meeting with the Dean today," I cleared my throat before throwing my bag over my shoulders.
"Soph, whether you impress him or not, be yourself," He smiled at me. I nodded and felt my nerves calm down slightly.
"Thanks Ean, I'll see you later," I finally walked out of my dorm room, passing half asleep students getting ready for class, whilst I am going to the Dean's office for an important meeting. I pulled my phone out from the bag and checked the time. 7:50 a.m. I have ten minutes to get there...in heels. Great. I quickly found myself outside passing by a few friends here and there, seeing random squirrels climbing up trees, people on bikes, a typical Monday morning.
With two minutes to spare, I finally made it to the main building of MIT. It could be considered the scariest too. The campus is huge as it is, let alone this building that is bigger than most basketball stadiums. I walked up the marbled steps and caught the door right before it closed. The inside was quiet and settle for a Monday. I can't blame anyone though, who likes Mondays?
I sat myself on one of the leather couches but I didn't get to enjoy for long because my name was soon called. My heels clicking on the floor seemed like the only noise echoing throughout the entire space. I became self-conscious about it for a few seconds, but then it hit me that I was walking straight into the Deans office.
"He'll be right out," The lady that had escorted me in here whispered to me. I slightly nodded as she turned her back to me and left the room. I took a moment to look around his office. It was very dark and...mahogany (you just said that in Effie's voice, I know you did). I notice the pictures and diplomas behind the dark wooden desk. I had been in here very few times, but this is defiantly the most important. I looked to my left as I heard footsteps coming towards me. I stood up getting ready to greet him.
"Dean Hartley," I held out my hand with a slight smile on my face.
"Ahh, it is so nice nice to see this morning," He shook my hand and then walked over to his desk and sat down in the leather chair. "Sit down, sit down," I nodded and smoothed out my skirt before I sat back in the chair.
