After so much of struggle I finally got into a medical college. I was full of joy that my dream came true. But my happiness had it's sadness too as I had to separate from my parents. I could see the tears in the eyes of my parents as they left me at the college gate. My mom couldn't see me going and turned her back. I too had tears in my eyes.

I settled in the college hostel, met new people and tried to overcome my emotions. As it was already 8:30 pm my roommates and I went to have dinner in the mess.

The first sight I had of the mess was awkward. We had to stand in a straight line with plates and cutlery and wait for our turn as the people served us food as if we were prisoners. We all sat down and as I had my first bite I realised that home was better. My taste buds just couldn't adjust with the food and I hurried to have water. I just managed to finish the food and came back to my room.

My first night without my family. This was fearsome. I never imagined myself sleeping with strangers around me. But to become something you gotta lose something. I slept early as the next day was my first day of college.
