He didn't mean for it to happen...any of this. It wasn't supposed to happen like this. She wasn't supposed to find out.

'I messed up real bad' was all he kept thinking as he walked slowly through the neighbourhood, dragging his shoes off the gravel as he went. He knew he was going to get caught before he even went through with it, but he still did. He knew what would happen, he knew that she would know. He had learnt that he could never get anything through the door and up into his bedroom in the attic without being questioned.

Whenever he left the house, she told him she loves him, because she never knew if he'd make it home or not. This time he knew something had changed, she didn't say she loved him when he trudged out the door on his way to school this particular morning.

If only she could tell her son she loved him, one last time.

Joseph was always the kid left outstanding. He was never considered one of the popular kids. He failed all his subjects, but he was a smart boy.

Joseph was the kid you'd see being pushed around and tripped up in the corridors, the kid that no one would help up off the ground. His glasses were smashed last semester, so he switched to contacts. He had long hair to his shoulders but chopped it all off when the boys kept spitting their chewing gum in it. He was a scrawny lanky lad, but over the past few weeks, he had started working out.
If you saw Joseph walk the corridors now, you'd be scared to go near him. He walks the halls in a dark grey zip up and his iPod plugged into his ears.

Joseph was "adopted" by the tough boys, they accepted Joseph into their gang, but it wasn't the good sort of gang. They were involved in drugs, alcohol, and hurting others who have hurt them in the past.

It was all their idea, they made him do it. They made Joseph belive it was the right thing to do, to get revenge, and to frighten the hearts of their family and friends.

-----------------------------------------------------------

It's been a week since the boys suggested the idea to Joseph, shortened to 'Joey' by the boys. It was all he could think about, how he was going to get away with it. He knew people that went down for doing things like this, he didn't want to end up like his father, but he was terrified of the boys and their ability to ruin his whole life in a split second. So he did it.

He went through with it.
