I can't answer him.

It's strange, being unable to answer such a simple question that has so many possible answers. I close my eyes, shifting my weight slightly in an effort to relieve some of the pain of my wound.

"Does it matter? You're alive now, for better or worse."

I don't look at him, but I can tell he's staring at me. I don't think I enjoy his gaze very much. Probably only because my reaction time is slow due to my injury and the disease's progression.

"Is the disease contagious?"

"Yes, if you run into an original carrier. You can't get it from me, I'm second-hand trash. Even if I wasn't, I could only spread it by throwing up into your mouth."

"So someone threw up into your mouth?"

"Don't even bring it up, its way to gross to try and think about."

"Right... What's your name?"

It throws me off guard for a moment, but I know I should have expected it. It's only natural he'd want something to call me by. Unfortunately. I don't like my name, and I don't like telling it to people. I guess it's necessary in this case.

"Tolka. My name is Tolka."

"That doesn't sound Japanese..."

"It's not. Hell if I know where it's from."

"Where were you born?"

"A car. On this island. I'm half Chinese, half Japanese, if you really need to know."

"You seem angry."

I send a small glare towards him before returning to looking out the window. The moon is bright tonight. That may make it more difficult to head home...

"Are you done with your questions?"

"Just one more."

"Hurry up. I need to get home."

"Do I have the disease?"

Time seems to slow for a brief moment. I turn to stare at him, comparing how he looked on the night I attacked him to how he looks now. Not much has changed. I stand, using the wall to help me, before walking over to stand in front of him. He looks up at me warily, but he seems more wary of my answer than myself.

"I don't know. It would make sense in a way, but only time will tell."

"If I do have it, how can I reach you? And what do you mean it makes sense?"

"You won't need to reach me."

I don't answer his second question, mostly because it's speculation. I turn, heading back towards the window.

"Wait."

I pause, looking towards him with one eyebrow raised as I pull my hood back over my head.

"You're bleeding."

I can't help but smile.

"You don't say...."

I leave as quickly as I first showed up, slipping out the window and moving to the top of the roof. I go down the other side, landing on top of a dumpster before running off into the shadowed alleyways.

This island must really love us, the way she makes it so easy for us to get around undetected.
