ORIGINS

Constance Croatoan and her family--consisting of her birth sister, Ruth, and her adoptive sister, Vivian, as well as a family friend, Tobias Whitford--had moved to Roanoke, North Carolina, in North America from their birthplace of England. But the food was scarce and the living conditions rough, so the family had no other choice but to turn to the one source of food they had more than anything--human flesh and blood.

They killed countless humans, using their muscle, fat, and blood as food and beverage. Each night they'd go out with knives and stab people in their sleep, dragging them back to their home, where they'd cut them up for dinner.

It went on like this for years, up until a woman who lived next door to the Croatoans, Margaret Redding, caught them. In disgust at what the family had done, Margaret did something that surprised the family--she cursed them. Did the impossible.

She made them vampires

In backlash, they killed the entirety of Roanoke, without any show of blood or any sort of evidence. The only thing left behind was their last name, carved into a palisade--Croatoan.

So now, if you ever hear on the news of serial killings involving blood draining, make sure to watch out for the Croatoans. Because they're coming, and they're not stopping anytime soon.
