"Afi, come back..." throwing her hand out in the blue abyss. Ethne called again, "Please... please come back. Don't leave me alone, please."
Hot lava poured out of her fluorescent blue eyes. Crying. She was crying hot lava tears. Afi was slowly turning to ice. The blue death slowly crept up his legs then to his torso till it reached his cold neck. Ethne looked at his frozen body in horror. He was now incased in a frozen nightmare.
"No. NO! Not you too..." Ethne said hoarsely.
She fell to the ground next to her statue of a brother. Her tears burnt the blue abyss, slowly taking her in the never ending darkness. A flash of blue danced at her lids.
Ethne awoke in her crimson bed in sweat. She never had a nightmare that horrible in years. Ethne had the same reoccurring nightmare for the past week. Her brother would be submerged in frost and darkness, and as she tried reaching out towards him, the world around her crumbled leaving her alone in her own despair.
"Ethne, come on wake up we got to work."
A boy stood across from her bed. Unlike her, his hair was a vibrant red and it was parted to the side to look somewhat combed. One side of his hair was longer on the right, but it still looked charming. He was at least an inch shorter than her, even though he was three years older than her. Today, his golden eyes looked very fed up and stressed.
"Ok Afi, I'm getting up." groaned Ethne.
"Finally, we wasted enough time already." Afi said with a frown.
Afi was always the responsible one out of them both. He always said that he should be the responsible one because he was older, but Ethne knew that when she was seven their mom told him to take care of her before she left. After that he would always do whatever it took to help and protect her.
"We have to take the shipment of ores, we mined yesterday, to the Kingdom of Elio." Afi said, as he trotted out of the dirty room. "I'll be outside setting up. Get dressed and pack some provisions, it'll be a long ride."
Ethne never went to Elio it, sounded like paradise. The people there welcomed every kind of element even though the Cyrus were native there.
The only thing she knew about the Cyrus people was that they controlled light. She clutched her rose gold locket with an image of fire engraved on it. Without her locket she'd be able to unleash her elemental power, but it's law that everyone wears one. Ethne ignored her ever growing thoughts and got dressed. She rummaged through her almost bare wardrobe. Ethne managed to find a plain white t-shirt and a worn lime green jacket that had seemed to have pockets everywhere with plain denim ripped jeans and tan hiking boots. She slipped on her favorite purple backpack, that clutched to her long red curly hair, and that somehow also complemented her unusual, bright ocean blue eyes then she was out of the door.
