Nate's P.O.V.

I totally forgot to see what I could find on David yesterday while I was at work. I decided that I'd do it now. I pull Google up on my computer. I type 'David Lee' in the search box.

Five minutes later, the only thing I've found is that there are a lot of David Lees in the world. It's really frustrating.

I decide to check the military website for David. It turns out that he wasn't a soldier, but he did have a relationship with a few of the women. They decided to rant about him on the website.

After a few more strike outs, an idea hits me. I don't know why I didn't think about it before. The local online news is sure to have something on him.

I type his name in the search box. Bingo. There's quite a few stories on him. The first one is about his marriage to Mel. As much as I don't want to, I open it. There wasn't any useful information.

I then click on the one about his death. It says everything that we've been told. He was killed in combat, after only six weeks of marriage. They were praising him for fighting for his country. If only they knew the truth.

I scroll to the bottom of the page. I'm about to exit the story when something catches my eye. There's a link that says unpublished stories on subject. I click it. What I find is not what I was expecting.

There's a story by an ex-journalist for the paper, Faith West. Apparently she knew something about David that no one else did. He's actually been working with the biggest drug lord in Louisiana. The only way David would have been able to continue with getting free drugs was if he could get a certain woman to marry him. Even though she's not named, I know it's talking about Mel. David was supposed to hand his wife over to the drug lord in exchange for free drugs for life. Something came up and the deal never happened.

I'm shocked. I can't believe he was just going to hand her over for drugs. How selfish and heartless can someone be. That's f**ked up.

I decide to do a search on Faith West. She was fired for writing the story. It says she disappeared shortly after she was fired. It was only a couple of weeks after we were told David was dead.

Something is definitely going on. There are so many questions. How did Faith know all of this? Where did she disappear to? Is she even still alive? If so, would she be willing to help if I found her?

I have to get to the bottom of this. I will not have a druggie kidnapping my wife. I will protect her and our son at all costs.

I quickly print the story on David. I decide to leave work early today. I have to make sure that Mel and Tanner are safe. I tell my secretary that I'm leaving and head outside to my car.

Traffic is moving too slow. I guess it's just because I'm in a hurry. Finally, the light turns green and people move out of my damn way.

I pull in our drive way and stop the car abruptly. I run up to the door and unlock it. I quickly shut and lock the door behind me. I turn to see Mel sitting on the couch.

"Hey, baby. You're home early."

I walk over and give her a kiss. I sit down beside her on the couch. "Yeah. Where's Tess and Tanner?"

"Well, Charlotte came to pick up Tess and Kim came to pick up Tanner."

I'm confused. "Why did Kim come pick up Tanner?"
