This scene was all too familiar to a doctor but to me this was a whole new thing. Seeing a little boy, my brother, fighting a battle that could never be won. I grab his right hand that still held life but very little of it. The monitor continues to beep in it's annoying steady beat. However, this does nothing to comfort me.

He lets out a shaky breath and his warm brown eyes meet mine. Brown on green. "Am I going to die?"

I close my eyes but I can't reply. My heart clenches inside me and I turn my head. "I don't know."

He nods and releases my hand. He leans his head back on to the pillow a ghost of a smile gracing his lips. I shake my head what on earth could he be smiling about.

I stand up about to exit the room when his mouth moves slightly. A voice that didn't belong to my five-year old brother spoke, "He'll be okay."

I walk towards the bed and trace a shaky finger on his cheek. I try to force myself to believe it but it was clear my brother was going to die.

Two hours later, the heart monitor stopped and I collapse on my knees grasping his small lifeless hand. Grief overwhelms me tightening my heart. However, I couldn't say I was surprised but a part of me still wished he would have been okay.

A hand is placed upon my shoulder, "He is okay. He's now Heaven's Angel."
