" Mom! I'm going to Lydia's house now" shouted Taylor.
"Ok, hon. But be careful." Her mom shouted back.
"Ok, love you."
"Love you too, Lydia."
Taylor put on her sneakers and jacket and walked out the door. The cold, fall air blew gently on her face. She began to walk. Down the sidewalk she went, all alone. She'd done it about a million times, she'd be fine. Right?
Taylor hadn't feared the dark, but it hadn't exactly, comforted her. After her friend, Ben, had disappeared about a day ago she'd become uneasy. Paranoid. Paranoid would be a better word for it. Every noise she'd hear, she would be sure someone had come for her. Little did she know that that night, she wasn't exactly wrong. She heard a scream come from down the street. A familiar scream. Lydia's. Within about 10 seconds of hearing the scream she sees Lydia running down the street.
"Lyd, are you ok?"
"Taylor!" Thank god!"
"What happened."
Suddenly, a bone chilling singing voice comes from down the street, heading toward them.
"Hide." Urged Lydia "We need to hide!"
The girls jumped behind the hedges of the yard they were standing by and stayed silent. The voice got closer and closer until, it was right in the place they had been standing. Then it stopped. The girl wore a dirt covered dress, no shoes, and her scraggly hair covered most of her face. "I know you're here." She whispered."Come out and play." The girls had begun to cry but as quietly as possible. " Lyyydiaaa?" She sang. "I saw you with your little friend."
The strange girl had started to prance and jump, claiming that she would kill the two girls. Then, she stopped. She turned around slowly as if starting directly at Lydia and Taylor and sang, l fooound youuu."Then she ran. Right toward them.
"GOTCHA!"
The screamed as loud as they could before the girl sunk her knife into Lydia.
"LYDIA! NO!" Taylor screamed.
"Run." Mumbled Lydia.
Taylor hopped on her feet and ran as fast as she could in the direction of her house. The strange girl, Who had stayed to finish off Lydia, had to be at least a few minutes behind her. Unless she decided to stay with the body.
She ran and ran as fast as she could back to her house and up the stairs to her porch. The put her hand on the door knob. It was locked. How could it be locked? She pulled and twisted over and over but it wouldn't open. She looked down the street. No strange girl. Then, she remembered. The back door. It was always unlocked. Taylor ran behind her house, climbed the fence, and ran into her house. She made sure to lock the back door this time.
"MOM!" Screamed Taylor.
"Honey? What happened?"
"Mom! Some weird girl killed Lydia!!! Mom, help please! Call the police! Do something!
"Oh my god! Honey!
Taylor's mom pulled Taylor into a hug. They stood there for awhile. Both crying. "Mom we need to call the cops." Said Taylor. "Ok honey, go look out the window to see if that girl you saw is coming back."
Taylor walked to the window and looked out, staying low. No sign of her, yet. She heard her mom talking on the phone with the police. It had fully sunken in, her best friend had been murdered. Most likely by the same person who killed Ben.
Then she saw it. Her. Skipping down the sidewalk. She could barely make out the wide grin from under all of her scraggly hair. She was singing. Taylor couldn't make out what she was saying because the window was closed, but she assumed it was a nursery rhyme. Then the girl stops in her tracks, turns and proceeds to skip toward the door. Taylor shut the curtains and turned to her mom who was staring at her. She'd seen the girl too. Then came the girl's voice.
"Knock, Knock."

Hey guys, I know that this one is also kind of short, but they get longer, don't worry. And I plan on switching back and forth from Taylor to the girl every chapter.
