Welcoming you into my life was a mistake.
I disregarded everything that was at stake.
Filled with shame and regret,
I pay the debt.

Locked away in the dark dungeons of my heart,
I spring to life as you breathe into me.
It is all ignited by a tiny spark,
Fed by the myriad of emotions flowing through me.

At first glance, you were bright and beautiful.
But you stood out like a sore thumb.
Making me feel dumb.
You were irresistible.

At last, I felt at my best.
No need to rest,
I felt happy,
Yet at the same time I felt crappy.

Welcoming you was a terrific choice.
You instilled hope in me.
You were my savior.
