I was going to marry her. Hundreds of people came to the wedding, all types, from my great great Auntie to my little brother. They all sat in the colours of the rainbow, to match the large flag waving at the end of the aisle. Our three little girls walk down first, Hazel walks in front, wearing a little red dress and too shy to throw any of the petals to the people. She walks down too fast and runs clinging onto my leg, I sit her down and smile asking her to sit still. Skye is next, wearing a light blue dress yet I see pink smudges of ice cream already on the collar. She throws all her petals at once, but instead of into the crowd she throws them on herself and joins her sister giggling, trying to chew the petals. Ellie is next, in a lime green dress, rolled down slowly in her wheel chair. She throws the petals calmly and makes sure everyone has one to hold onto. She’s placed by her sisters and I smile at my three triplets, they’re only 4 yet already they all have completely different personalities.
My dad stands behind me, smart in his blue suit. He holds the book which he will use to marry us, he never liked the idea of two girls marrying, but when I asked him to he didn’t even think to refuse. All my ancestors got married on this very lawn, I’ve never heard a word about any of them. I was born before the wedding of my parents and I’ve never known my mother. Just like how my father never knew his. The music starts to play, everyone turns around to catch a glimpse of my wife to be. She looks beautiful, a large smile spreads across her face. Her dress is a pure white, it’s simple yet it looks amazing. The trail on her head spreads almost across the entire aisle, it shows every colour of the rainbow yet no two colours appears twice. The colours are faint, so they don’t ruin her dress and they merge together into one. She walks slowly with her dad, letting everyone see her dress yet she never takes her eyes off me.
Everyone stops, yet my bride keeps walking. The arm of her dad snapping off like a piece of glass. She continues to walk towards me, I hear my three girls giggling and I see they’re still moving as usual. My bride stands in front of me, not looking into my eyes just into space. She holds out her arm in an inhumane fashion, almost like it jerks into place.
“Give me the ring” She says. Obeying I pick the ring from the ring boys grasp, seeing the simple gold design with 3 diamonds slightly poking out on one side. I hand her the ring and all time freezes. My eyes roll back into my skull and when they roll back forward I’m standing there, suit ripped staring at my bride in a hospital bed. Her skin is pale, the continuous beep of the heart monitor machine is already playing. Her heart isn’t beating and no air is entering or leaving her body. I touch her skin and it’s cold, as my finger leaves her arm her skin distorts and wrinkles. The once perfect skin on her face crumbles leaving it sagged and old. Her eyes shoot open, and move to me in one quick motion.
“Don’t give her the ring” She croaks, her mouth not moving. She just stares, her skin starts to flake and crisp off her body. Her eyes never move, they stay fixed on me while her entire body deteriorates. She lays there as a skeleton, her bones brittle, all components of her body gone. Apart from them once pearly blue eyes which now lay a dark deeper then hell. I can’t help but stare back, like some force is not letting me look away. Two hands clamp around my neck from behind, brittle bones squeeze until it snaps.
Waking up I don’t remember a thing, although in the back of my mind I know for certain that something, has to be remembered.
