'What day is it? Better yet what month is it? I can't take this anymore! Why am I still wandering this usless planet?! What do I even have left?' I was taken back to reality, but still a little dazed. Hanna's hands were sternly perched on my shoulders. She looked so worried, I wonder what's wrong wth her.
"Hey, buddy. Are you feeling okay? You seem more quiet than usual. Which is unusual since you're not the quiet type."
I looked at her and gave a half-hearted smile. How could I forget that I still have her with me? My best friend. The only person I have......that's still alive. "I'm fine Han. I promise, maybe a little jittery, but nothing I can't handle." I tried to walk ahead of her, but didn't get too far.
She grabbed the back of my pack, and turned me around to face her tear-filled eyes.
"Y/n, you know that I know something's wrong with you. I understand it's in the middle of a war, and shit happened, but I don't want to see you like this."
"I told you I'm FINE. 100%---,"
"You're not fine!" Hanna yelled. I flinched from the shock and started to tremble. It's been so long since I heard her scream, specifically at me.
Hanna sighed and took her hands off of me as I slowly back up into one of the countless tress in woods. "Look, N/n, I didn't mean to yell at you like that. Honestly, but you can talk to me ya know. You can trust me." She held out her hand hoping I would take it.
And I did.
She smiled and we started walking again, hand in hand. I looked at her with slight confusion, but shrugged it off. I guess she took notice.
"I can let go of your hand if you want me to. I just thought it'd make you feel better."
"No it's fine. I don't mind, it actually does help a little..."
I looked up at the grey colored clouds that shielded away the sunlight and dominated the sky. It looked pretty, sort of reminds me of the days before this damn war started.
The days I still had them with me.
"Hey, dreamer. Do you remember the promise we made each other in middle school?"
I sighed and looked down. Of course I remembered the promise. We typed up a contract and signed it. I started to laugh at how insignificant it seemed know.
Han let go of my hand and crossed her arms. "So I'm guessing you do remember?"
"Yeah! How could I forget? We pinkie pie promised that we would never abandon, lose, or hurt each other no matter what happens." I gave her a rare toothy smile then yawned. "So, Hanna, where are we going again?"
Her eyes got wide with excitement as she pointed towards a....OH HELL NO! "We're going MOUNTAIN CLIMBING ON MT. EBOTT! For supplies, since you refuse to go to stop at one of the other camps."
I rubbed the bridge of my nose with my index finger and thumb, knowing I couldn't argue with her. She had so much determination and enthusiasm to climb it, but there was still a major problem.
The Exiled.
They were the monsters that were banished to live underground, inside of Mt Ebott. So naturally, they had control of Ebott. And she wanted to climb it."Alright. Fair enough. I know there are some towns on Ebott, but that's the main base for the Exiled though. So do you have a plan in mind or are we gonna dive in and wing it?" Hanna clapped her hands together with shear excitement.
"That's on the other side. So, instead of walking in front of them, we're gonna go in from behind. Smart right?" I looked at her with a poker face, but I had to admit it was a pretty smart plan, aside from being a little half baked. We hiked up the back of the mountain, within an hour, we reached a town, perched on a cliff.
It looked as though it had fairly large buildings at one point and only what I could assume was a super-market turned fort, that's now in shambles a few feet away from the edge. However, despite the war, the town looked to be some type of descent shape. Or maybe stable enough to be used as a shelter, it's too bad I can't say the same for all the other towns we've been through. I wandered into the crumbling supermarket, hoping to find some clothes for the up coming summer. It took a while, but I was able to find a good amount of clothes and stuff them into my pack along with anything else I deemed important.
As I walked out of the damaged store, I could hear a faint cry for help.
"Wait. Crap Hanna, I'm coming!"
"Like hell you are! You ain't going anywhere, pipsqueak." A thin yet strong girl claimed, picking me up from the pack. I thrashed around and squirmed trying to escape her grasp. But, failed.....miserably. Okay now I regret not taking a break to nap. Yet knowing that I'm slowly burning the little energy that I have fills me with adrenaline. I kicked and squirmed around more violently than before.
"Put me DOWN!"
"Nope. Can't."
"Oh yeah? Then fight me!"
"Hmm. That doesn't sound too fun either. How's about I drop you off the cliff? Doesn't that sound better.~" By the time I realized she already had me dangling off the cliff, she dropped me.
Fuck
Fuck
Fuck
Fuck
FUCK
My life can't end just yet! I-I I don't wanna die.I blacked out, waiting for the impact of the hard ground that never came.
