Over a decade ago Ciel had sold his life story to a Japanese manga artist and had been living well off the royalties. The current problem facing him was that one day, he had discovered all of the fanfictions written about him.
At first he had cringed and wondered if the royalties he was getting paid were worth knowing that fans were writing such terrible works that he starred in. Then he thought of a way to use it to his advantage.
One of his main problems in his demon life was that Sebastian no longer spoke to him. Ever since Ciel had become a demon, his relationship with his demon butler had deteriorated to the point that the only things Sebastian ever said to him were 'yes, young master', 'no young master' or 'sorry, young master'. The aforementioned phrases were always said in a monotone voice with a completely blank face.
He believed he finally had a way to get Sebastian to show some emotion for once. Ciel pulled his laptop towards him and opened up the internet browser. It was time to put his plan into fruition.
"Sebastian, come here at once," he said out loud and waited.
Within a few seconds the door to the dining room opened and his butler walked in, dressed in his customary black ensemble.
"Yes, young master?" he asked with no emotion or tone in his voice.
"Sit down," Ciel ordered and pointed to the chair on the opposite side of the table.
"Yes, young master," the demon complied.
"Sebastian, have you ever heard of fanfiction?" he started off with an easy question.
"No, young master."
Ciel was annoyed that the demon didn't even look curious. Of course he had not advanced very far yet.
"Fanfiction is fiction written by fans. There are thousands devoted to our story, or at least the one I told Toboso."
Now Sebastian looked faintly curious, or at least he was showing a marginally different facial expression. Ciel smirked inwardly, that was soon going to change.
"Hmm," Ciel said. "Let's go for Wattpad works. I have to say that out of the three main websites for fanfiction, it has the most abysmally written fan fictions."
"If you say so," Sebastian did not exactly sound fascinated.
Ciel navigated his way to the website and typed in a few search terms. Sadly he'd had to make an account to be able to use the website properly and he found that faintly embarrassing considering the average age of the user base.
"School fanfictions starring us are very popular. I shall find the best and by the best, I mean the most entertainingly bad ones."
"Victorian schools?" Sebastian finally showed a flicker of interest.
Ciel waved his hand dismissively. "Of course not. That would involve the fan girls having to do actual research."
A minor look of horror as momentarily visible on the demon's face. Ciel had a feeling that Sebastian had worked out how much torture he was in for.
