Silently, Slowly
Creeping ever closer
You've got to run,
Put protection on
Or you'll surely die
Stealthy, colourless
It comes striking fear
Into every man's heart
Poisonous killer
You see people die of it
Those who aren't quite,
Quick enough
God help them!
Creeping ever closer
You've just got enough time
To say your prayers
It's here...
But sometimes it's not enough
As it engulfs you,
Surrounds you.
It gets in,
It gets through
And that's it!
You're gone
Fading away
You can't do anything
It's got you
And it's never letting go
No matter how hard you fight
No matter how hard you struggle
It's over
It's got you
And you're gone
(A/N - This is where it originally ended, but my teacher told me to extend it because it was too sad and they said it should end on a slightly 'happier' note.)
We must never let this happen
Not again.
The horrific wars
Where it's every country
For itself
The blood thirsty battles
Where 1000s die
We can't let this happen
Not again,
Not ever.
A/N
I wrote this poem (that also doesn't rhyme) in English as part of a remembrance thing last year and it ended up actually getting published! I hope that you enjoyed this and recognise the importance of this time of year.

Remembrance Poems and Stories
RandomA small set of poems/stories created by me to commemorate things that happened in the past and why we need to remember them. It is completed for now, but I may occasionally add stuff to it.
