Between The Lines

"Read between the lines." That's what they told me in preschool, elementary school, middle school, and high school. But I never really realized how important that was.

Or at least, not until now.

By reading between the lines on a page, I have learned that there's more to books than just paper and ink. What's actually there is someone pouring their heart and soul out onto a page and the hundreds of feelings transforming into thousands of words.

By looking deeper than just the waves on the surface of an ocean, I have come to realize that there's more than just water and salt. I saw that what's really in that huge body of water is millions of small bodies with big souls hoping every single second if every single day not to get killed or taken away from their families.

By looking past the outlines of people's faces, I have discovered that facial expressions don't always reveal true emotions. Often, smiles and laughs are just a way to mask the forest of uncontrollable and unexplainable emotions within us.

Until now, I didn't realize that reading between the lines can change my whole perspective on life.
