"I'm here for you. When did you think you were alone?" I say comforting my friend.
"Spiders crawled inside and made themselves a home where the light once was." She sobs. She only speaks in metaphors now. Concern fills my eyes and crosses my face. I swear she's petrified of who she is now. She shuts herself away from everyone.
"Friend, please remove your hands from over your eyes for me." I say, moving in front of her. She looks up and I continue, "I know you want to leave but friend, please don't take your life away from me." I try to copy the way she's talking but I've never really been that great with words. She buries her face in her hands once again. Ever since the incident, she's been like a ghost of her former self. She walks by everyone she knows and pretends like they don't exist. I've asked her and she says she's fine, but she's lost her sway and glow.
"I stopped by to let you know," I resume, "Friend, please remove your hands from over your eyes from me." I know I repeated myself, but I'm starting to think its the only way to get her to listen. "I know you want to leave but friend, please don't take your life away from me." She stops shaking, her sobs fading to a small whimper. She lifts her head once more and opens her red, puffy eyes. I give a sweat, worrisome smile.
"Would you let me know what your plans are tonight?" She asks, her voice cracks and is shakey.
I have no idea why she asked that of all things but I answer her anyway, "I'm going to stay here with you because I will not let go until we both see the light." I try the metaphor again but, as you know, I'm not good with words. "I have nothing left to say. I will sit here and listen to you. What ever you want to say just say it." I tell her. She only nods and I watch as a single tear falls down her face. I sit on the bed again and she lays her head down on my lap. I repeat myself once again, "Friend, please remove your hands from over your eyes. I know you want to leave but friend, please don't take your life away from me."
