When Nouns Go Bad
Let's face it, if language wore clothing, nouns would be the nonstarters in horn-rimmed glasses and cardigan sweaters who loiter on the threshold of ambition, discussing abstracts, and whether their modifiers have dangled lately.
In the versatile English language, however, nothing is impossible, and nouns have been known to yearn for a walk on the wild side. But when they aspire to linguistic licentiousness, nouns don't just swap their specs and sweaters for sunglasses and leather jackets. No, when nouns go bad, they go where the action is: they become verbs.
