Day Tripper

Chapter 3

      "Now where is that John Lennon?  Maybe he can help me keep my mind off of things, especially my mother," I thought to myself.  I scanned the room until I saw him sitting by himself on one of the chairs, finishing a whole bottle of booze.

     I went to him and said,"Hello there John, how is the party so far?"

     He put down the bottle, rested his head on the palm of his hand, and while slouching he replied,"Things were pretty alright before.  Met up with a few friends, I was having a ball..until I heard about what happened to George.  I made a few jokes about it, but then I heard he was in the bathroom crying.  I talked to him, and then realized he never really wanted to marry that girl, he was in love with being in love.  He only proposed to her because our manager told him to, and he told him to because she was a model, no, scratch that, a supermodel, and I guess that's good publicity."

     "She must've been gorgeous."

     "She was.  I believe there was a time when they were both madly in love with each other, but that time in their lives didn't last very long.  The gal could tell that George was being fake nearly the whole time, and she knew how uncomfortable he was in the relationship.  I think the rest of the band and I could tell that if they got married, the marriage wouldn't last very long."

     "The poor guy," I add,"Hey, will I ever get to see you guys again?"

     "Of course, we'll be in New York for the rest of the week, ye can come and explore our hotel with us tomorrow evening.  I'll have a limousine come and pick you up from where ye live, where do ye live?"

     "Oh, I live in the closest apartment to the theatre I just performed in."

     "Great, I'll see ye soon," he flashed me his bright smile, stood up, and gestured for the other members of The Beatles to come with him.  Before George left, he grinned his adorable grin and waved goodbye.  After the rest of the band was gone, Ringo ran up to me, asked for my telephone number, which I gladly gave to him.
