PROLOGUE
“Ugghhhhhh” Wolf moaned as she rolled to all fours, her body protested the movement. The pain was good; it meant her new human limbs had not been damaged in the big fall.
She lifted her face towards the blazing sun, allowing herself only a moment of longing for the kingdom she would never again lay eyes apon. Breifly, she wondered who would fill her role as protecter to the great Goddess…*Best not dwell on such things now..*
Her paws sunk deep into the hot sand, as if the earth where sucking her into it...No, not paws, she sighed, Feet. I have human feet...
The chill breeze slapped long tendrels across her face like a whip, bringing with it the salty taste of the sea and the oder of putrid fish. Wolf scrunched her nose as she inhailed deeply, only slightly surprised to find her keen sense of smell was so obviously limited now.
She was warned by her master, the Goddess, of her disadvantages in human form, the surprise was quickly replaced with curiosity.
Peering down through heavy waves of auburn hair to inspect her new figure, Wolf gasped at the drastic changes; smooth tanned skin replaced her thick ivory fur. No wonder she was so damned cold! she shivered with embarrassment, feeling like a shaved dog.
“Hssss” All embarrassment was forgotten as the menacing sound in the distance shoved the assignment to the forefront of her mind.
Wolf struggled in the sand, as she had never had to cope on less than four legs before. She carefully wobbled to unsteady feet, taking only a moment to balance herself before bumbling her way towards the sound.
The reason for her new form lay sprawled out in front of her…well, technically all three reasons.
“Happy birthday!” She exclaimed awkwardly, the language of the gods feeling heavy on her tongue, only having used telepathy before. But for now, no matter how awkward, verbal was probably better until the three young ones learn to speak properly.
“HSSSSSSSS!!!” The smallest creature with flaming red hair glared menacingly as the other two stared wide eyed at their surroundings.
"At least you three appear passably human…" As much as Wold could assume a normal human would look, never having seen a live one before, she couldnt be sure.
The little ones huddled together in fear when Wolf drew near. It was very difficult to comprehend that these three beings were created by the Goddess for the sole purpose of destruction and terror; and at the Goddesses personal request, it was now Wolfs job to raise them into their full potential as harbingers of death...But at the moment they looked more like wet kittens than anything else. Lucky me…
Wolf had been handpicked to mother the most ruthless of the Goddesses creations… Harpies.
“Alrighty then.” Wolf breathed as she rested her fists on the flair of her hips. “I suppose you three will need names?” Wolf voiced, more to herself than the glairing young females. After a very painfully long minute of unblinking eye contact, two of the females apperantly decided Wolf was not a real threat.
“HSSSSSS!” The flame haired one beared her teeth, her sharp little fangs glinting as her small body arched to appear larger than it was; the other two girls disregarded Wolf in favor of terrorizing a nearby turtle.
“Names, names, names…” Wolf pursed her lips as she realized that not even she had an appropriate human name yet.
The redheaded child growled menacingly as eye contact was made with Wolf. *Is this wisp of a girl trying to stare ME down?* Wolf had to stop herself from wobbeling over to the obstinant child and teaching her respect the hard way. *Remember, shes just a child* It was difficult to keep in mind when all three girls appeared fully formed and in the teenage years of human life.
“I guess I can’t call you Hissy….So… Karina?” The girl hissed once more, spit flying everywhere. Meh, she likes it. Wolf thought to herself.
“Now for the shy ones…” Wolf pointed a slender finger to the smallest dark haired young one, “Amillia, and…”
Furrowing her brows as she pointed to the last child yanking the poor turtle by the tail, “Ellenoir? Well, it works for now…”
“Ehheeemmmm!!!” Wolf cleared her throat so loud it echoed over the beach, “And you young ladies may call me, Ehhh…Rose!" The favored flower of the Goddess, "I am your new mother, it will be an honor to raise you into the lovely women and prime warriors you were created to become! Together we will unite to defeat the rebelling immortal children and take back what they have stolen from our master the Goddess!” Wolfina announced proudly, chin held high.
The moment of glory was dampened only by the loud boom of Amillia farting, followed by yet another hiss from Karina...
“Oh my Goddess….” Wolfina deflated as she gazed into the clouds… “This is going to take more time than you think it will, my lady …”
