Maria's pov

As I walked into the newly mowed lawn I thought of how perfect my life was. Almost everyone envied me and my sister, Lexi. They wanted to draw like Lexi, figure skate like me, and they just wanted a twin.

I entered my house quietly, so I didn't wake Mother. Normally Mom would cry herself to sleep and every day after school Lexi and I found her on the couch out.

Today Lexi went over to a friend's house so I was all alone. I saw Mom was past out on the couch with a book next to her. Typical.

I went into the kitchen and grabbed a handful of chips and turned the TV on, quiet so mom wouldn't wake.

Then I saw Mom move and I turned the TV off. Mom barely ever spoke, well after Dad left she barely ever spoke. With Dad she was a normal mom. Actually Mom left dad because he was abusing Lexi and me.

"Maria?" I heard her say in a raspy voice.

"Yes," I replied.

"Where is Lexi? I need to tell you two something," She said sounding more and more awake.

"She's at a friend's but whatever it is you can tell me and then her," I said with curiosity.

"Well I guess so," Mom isn't very hard to convince, "We are moving." She finished.

I nearly choked in my chips. Moving? I've read to many books about moving to know it always ends with the girl crying.

"We are moving to Berkshire, England because one of my childhood friends live there," she said.

"A whole new country!" I yelled.

"Inside voices," she said holding her ears.

"Mom you'll have to take a Naturalization test," I said, or at least you do if you move to America I don't know about England.

"I already bought the plane tickets and the house," she said nonchalantly.

I ran upstairs to my room, slamming the door so mom knew I was mad. I kicked the wall, it actually helped. I laid in bed thinking of how much I hate mom's new choices.

Gosh that women sometimes drives me insa-

"Maria," I heard mom say from outside my room.

I looked up and saw my bedding was soaked with tears and sweat. I didn't answer I just sat on my bed. Then the Door handle started to twist and Mom appeared in front of me.

"Why are you upset? You've always said you wanted to move," I can't argue with that. I hated this town the only reason I liked it was because Lexi liked it.

"Lexi has tons of friends, she's going to be so sad," I said.

"I called her and she cried for a little but she's fine now, and so should you," Mom said.

Then I saw Lexi stand behind mom her makeup all over her face. Lexi walked over to me and gave me a hug, "Its going to be alright, this might be an improvement," Lexi whispered in my ear.

She's right, Mom will finally have a friend so Mom won't be depressed all the time. "When do we leave?" I asked with a smile.

A huge grin appeared on Mom's face, "Two days," she said happily, "So get packing."

Lexi ran into her closet and threw all of her clothes off the shelves, then she jump in the huge pile of clothes. This is what I have to live with! (Face palm)

"We should take one more Selfie here," I said. Lexi rolled her eyes and went to the bathroom to clean up her makeup.

When she came out she looked amazing, if I do say so myself. I decided to wear the exact same clothing as her for the picture.

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh we should try to look attractive, for once in our lives," Lexi said.

I grabbed my phone and we tried so hard to look better than normal.
