In the warm night of the spring, I sit on the rooftop, watching the streets below.I thought I had this feeling as if something bad was about to unfold. Sure enough, my intuition was correct as something black dashes through the night on two legs, looking for prey. A noid, monsters that seek out humans as their prey sometimes and other times for their enjoyment. It's the soul of a human it wants. Either way, I still don't know why they exist or what their true aim is. Ahead of the noid, it spots a girl wearing the same uniform from my school. I sigh thinking about the why it had to be from my school before leaping down in front of her and pulling out my dagger. "Huh?Aren't you that quiet girl from my class?" she blinks looking at me. The noid growls in front of us as it shows itself in the light of the street lamp. The creature clawed down one of the tree trunks and uprooted another tree, its scales shining in the light making it look like a fish out of the water. The moment the girl behind me screams, the noid throws the tree at us. "Get out of here!" I shout pointing for her to leave. She runs away right as I leap out the way of the tree. The monster roars and charges at me.
It all started during the "Kuro Kaika" or "Black Bloom" about 10 years ago, no one knew what had happened back then. Not even the supposedly "smart" adults knew what happened. Visitors came into our world, "Monsters" were what they were the names everyone gave them but we, from the orphanage, call them "Noid".Noids were always "part" of our world, hidden in the shadows in another dimension.But somehow they got through the creaks and into this world.
10 YEARS AGO
It's Monday, like every day at the "Orphanage for the Gifted", it is hectic where the adult or the caretakers force us, kids, to use powers or "Gift" as they say. Kids here will do activities that are tuned to our psyche in order to summon up this gift to which we take exams to see if we mastered our powers. All this trouble in order to get adopted. Lots of the kids here don't have powerful abilities such as super strength or mind control like the older kids. Thus the younger kids have weaker powers like moving small objects or like me the ability to hide in the shadows.But this night was different. By the way, my name is Nagisa.
Beep!Beep! Red lights flashing and horns blaring throughout the orphanage that sat on an island on its lonesome. The sound wakes up the sleeping kids from their beds. The headmaster rushes around looking for the cause of the alarm. Something tucks on my bed sheet making me sit up and look around. "Nagisa.What's going on?" Little mix eyes, one blue and one green, looking back at me. The boy before me continues to shake me. "Alright alright, Axel I'm up," I mutter placing my hand on the goggles that rested on his head. "What's going on?" he asked. "I don't know.But we should find out."I reply getting out of bed. Axel looks around as we make our way out into the hallway. The older kids such as Bon and Luce came running down the hallways, ready for combat. "Axel, stay behind me," I whisper and he nods, staying close by me.The adults that run the place were all in a frenzy over something but I wonder what's got them on edge.
Axel and I made our way towards the security room with all the cameras and with Axel's help he was able to hack into the camera. One camera in particularly caught my eye because it had a strange creature walking past it.The look of it gave me the chills. "What is that?!" Axel snaps me back to reality. "I don't know but let's go."I grab his hand and we make our way towards the practice room. "Whatever that thing is, this is the best place for you to hide.I'll be right back, OK?" I explain hiding him behind a hidden hole in the wall, our hiding spot. "Nagisa...OK." he nods cheerlessly accepting the fact that I'm leaving. I look back at him one more time...not knowing at that moment that that would be the last time I would see him, my first and only best friend, Axel.
Not long after, the Black Bloom happened and a huge explosion erupted sending a shockwave around the world.It created more people like us from the orphanage, how many, I don't know. And why...I wish I knew. With the shockwave also came Noids which I fight.
Present day
The monster charges towards me.I stand there, waiting for the right moment to strike. Right as the monster leaps up, I took my chance to strike and stab the blade right into its heart, killing it. I pant, watching it disappear into nothing. Oh great, that girl saw me...Sigh that means I have to change schools again...what a drag.
