District 1 : Violet Rose, Status: Loyal
Laying in my bed I tossed and turn, trying to get comfortable but of course, I can't. Its the day of the reaping and everyone in district one, as well as the other districts, is required to attend. I can't help but worry, as anyone else would. I sit up in bed and brush through my long golden blonde hair. With a big sigh, I get up for a shower. MY worry doesn't lighten as I strip and step into the hot water. Not even the jasmine and vanilla scented wash, a luxury for only the capitol and district one, helps me. After I'm done I get out and pull on a fluffy, white robe and head to my closet where my reaping dress is placed. Its a golden dress that stops at the knee and is covered in sequins. I pull it out and sit it on the bed and walk over to my vanity table and blow dry my hair and brush through it before putting it up in curls.
"Violet, are you almost ready?" My mother calls.
"Yes mother!" I call back.
I quickly do a natural looking makeup before standing up and putting the dress on. I pair it with a pair of black heels and a black necklace and bracelet.
. "Violet, come on!" My little sister, Clairressa, calls.
"Coming!" I yell and leave my room for possibly the last time.
Once I reach the living room, I see my family waiting for me. My mother and father are standing with my ten year old sister and my eighteen year old brother is standing off to the side.
"Lets go." Father says.
We follow silently, my sister holding on to my mother and my brother staying close to me. Once outside my friendsJjade and Emerald join us and I spot Jackson with his family.I look up at my brother, jeremy, before running off to see Jackson. He sees me coming and pulls me into a hug.
"You look beautiful Vi." Jackson states.
I blush and give him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"You look good too Jac!" I exclaim.
His usually spiked blonde hair is slicked back and he's in a pair of nice jeans and a dress shirt. Jackson smiles, sadly.
"Good luck Vi." Jackson says, kissing my forehead.
I simply nod and smile slightly before joining my family again. Its only a ten minute walk to get to the town square and my brother, Jade, Emerald, and I go and join the kids our age and stand, waiting for the reaping to begin. All to soon the mayor comes out and announces Elise, the district one tribute escort.
"Welcome to the 68th annual hunger games and may the odds be ever in your favor. Shall we pick the tributes?" Elsie asks. When no one answers she continues. "Lady's first...Jade Evergreen!"
Jade freezes as her name is called. I panic as she starts to walk forward.
No i would not let my best friend fight in the games. Her life meant more than mine and i knew i'd win because of my training, so i took the chance.
"I volunteer!" I cried out. Tears had already began to fall.
Jade stops and turns to look at me, but I can't look at her.
"Violet no!" Jade exclaims, tears brimming her eyes.
"I'm sorry Jade." I say as the peacekeepers push me forward. It's the only thing I can whisper.
I slowly make my way up to the stage and stand next to Elise.
"What's your name darling?" She asks.
"Violet Rose." I state.
Elise smiles at me and walks to the bowl filled of male tribute names.
"And the male tribute is...Jackson Storm!"Elise yells.
I gasp as Jackson walks up to the stage. I feel tears in my eyes as he stands next to me. Jackson takes my hand in his as Elise walks to center stage.
"And there are your tributes!" The crowd claps as we are ushered into the building to say goodbye to our families.
First are my brother and sister both looking as if someone ran over their precious cat.
"Please be careful violet." Jeremy says, looking into my eyes.
"I will be." I say.
Clairressa hugs me tightly and moves to stand with our brother. "Love you violet." She says and the leave so my parents can come in.
I'm attacked in a strong embrace by my mother and father.
"Please be careful violet. We love you."They say before my mother breaks into tears and is escorted out by my father.
Next in is Jade and Emerald. "Why did you do that Vi!" Jade yells at me.
"I had to jade. I love you both so very much. Watch over my sister for me please, while I'm gone. I will win this. " I say as their time is up.
I wait for about five minutes before peacekeepers come and escort me out to a car where Elise and Jackson are waiting. The car ride to the tribute train is quite. As the town square disappears behind us the train becomes visible. Once on it we are shown to rooms and introduced to our mentors, Elizabeth and James. We talk briefly before watching the other reapings.A girl from six began crying another. girl in twelve looked like a Mess as her name was called.I turned the television off and went to bed.
