Jess screams. I look at my phone and the call has been ended. I jump into my car and start the engine. It purrs to life. I drive about three block, then I hit a red light. I could run it. There's no one else out here. My phone vibrates. I pray it's Jess. I pick it up.
I see you.
I gasp. That's what it Jess said was sent to her. I look in the back seat. It's empty. The light turns green and I put my foot on the gas. Nothing happens. Suddenly, my car goes dead. Quickly, I lock the doors. My heart is racing. I call Jess. It goes straight to voicemail. I dial 911.
"911, what is your emergence?" a man says.
"Yes, help. I-"
"See you." the man on the other end says.
"What?" My voice cracks.
"I see you." He says again. I look at my phone screen and it's off. No signal. My heart pounds harder. I throw my phone into the passenger seat.
"I see you," someone whispers behind me. I scream. Suddenly, everything is very dark.
