Chapter 02 - Wallflowers Are Not Synonymous To Gold-Diggers.

Shin had not planned on doing what he did but something about her attitude, even after he had given her his coldest glare, grated on him. And he wanted to give her something she had never expected. In the end though, he had still failed on planting a simple kiss on her lips. And it seems, if his ego would allow the little bruising, she was disgusted by it. She kept on making those revolted faces and wiping her cheek with the palm of her hand. And for some reason, he really finds it hilarious. So he did what he wanted to do earlier and laughed out loud.

“What the hell are you laughing at?” She must have been really incensed for her to be throwing profanities at him right now. But he couldn’t help but laugh at the stupidity of what he did earlier.

He had never deliberately sought out a woman and kissed her. Oh, he was experienced enough to not get affected by a peck on a cheek but it seems though that his partner for today had not yet discovered that side of the male and female relationship. And that made it all the funnier.

“Oh, what’s this? Are you as inexperienced as you look?” And he added a smirk for good measure.

“Ha. Ha. Ha.” She had stopped wiping her face and looked at him with those unreadable eyes of hers. She stared at him for a long time and finally, after what felt like an eternity, smiled at him. “Inexperienced? Maybe. Maybe not. You won’t even have the chance of finding out about it anyway.”

And with that Shin sobered up. True. There is nothing he can charge this girl with. He knew that he wouldn’t even blackmail her for a simple bruise on a face. He would never stoop that low. He had more dignity than that. And extortion was out of the question. His family had more money than they knew how to spend at all. Enslavement was also out of the question.

Unless he offered her a job with a few added perks. That would not count as enslavement, would it?

“What if I offered you a job?”

“Not interested.”

“With fifty thousand for a month, free lodging and a scholarship at this school?”

He had never offered such a ludicrous amount for God knows what job he would make her do. He was not really sure himself what he wanted from her or what he’ll get just by letting her stay by his side. But he was sure that for now he doesn’t want her out of his sight until he got bored with her. Because that’s what they all are to him anyway. Playthings to interest him until he gets tired with them. They normally get boring after some time. And he was sure that this girl would become someone uninteresting too.

“Wait. I’m calling my mom.” A few seconds passed. “Oh, it connected.” She distanced herself a bit from the phone. A loud static can be heard. It stopped. “Old hag, someone offered me fifty thousand a month and a house and a scholarship at T-Academy. Should I take it up?” A pause. Then she looked at him and said in a flat voice, “No.”

The pure shock on his face even if it was just for a moment was as priceless as her precious collection of manga and games. Pity he was so fast on recovering his composure. “You’re saying no? Why?”

Hitomi could only presume from his absurd offer that he was planning something. And she had never liked people who plot in front of her. The old hag even thought so too. Remembering their conversation earlier lifted her mood a little bit. As always the woman was fast on scolding and assuming that she was in trouble again. Still, her senses were sharp enough to know when and how deep she was in trouble whenever she calls. It made her a bit nostalgic of home hearing the annoying lecture she prepares every phone calls. Of course, the woman was always one step ahead of her. Before she had disconnected, a sobering line was thrown at her.
