"Hurry up Sophia, you are going to be late for school!"

"Coming mom, be patient!" I say as I slip on my loose, pink crop top. I hop into the car and my mom drives away to St. Barron High School in Burlington, Vermont. When we arrive, I give my mom a kiss and run up to Stacey, my best friend, and stroke her long, blonde hair.

"Hey, hey!" I say.

"Hey, Sophia! What do you have first period?"

"English with Mrs. Longheist. You?" I reply.

"Chemistry, which I might be failing" She says in an uninterested voice. We walk to class together, since the classrooms are right beside each other.

"Bye!" I say as Stacey waves and walks into her classroom.

When I come out of the class, Stacey is waiting for me at the door of the class with some other girl. She has long, braided brown hair and light grey eyes. She is very tall and is wearing a loose, dark blue tank top that says "LIVE IN THE MOMENT".

"Sophia, this is Victoria. We are working on an assignment together." She says as she motions towards the mysterious girl.

"Oh, um... Hey Victoria!" She completely ignores me and continues talking to Stacey about some guy named Jordan. I walk down the hall with them even though they are treating me like I am invisible. I take my stuff out of my locker and start the 20 minute walk towards my house, anxious, knowing that my dad will be home.

"Hey dad!" I say as I walk through the door. Nobody answers, so I call my mom.

"Hey sweetie!" she says. sounding nervous. As soon as I ask her about my father she hangs up. Suddenly, the house phone rings. I answer to an old-sounding women.

"Hello, this is the Bay residence." I say as always.

"Hello, may I speek to Caroline Bay please?" Asks the old lady.

"Speaking," I say, curious.

"This is St.Louis Burlington hospital, we have some upsetting news on Mrs. Lisianne Bay." She says.

" Yeessssss........" I reply.

"I am very sorry to advise you that Mrs. Bay unfortunatly went into cardiac arrest 3 hours ago. We sadly weren't able to save her." This is not true. The old lady is lying! My grandmother is not dead! I hang up and immedietly call my mom. She sobs when I tell her the news but I still demand answers.

" She had lung cancer." I make out through the sobs. I start to cry harder and ask where my father is and when he will be coming back. She told me that he wouldn't be coming back. I through a plate on the floor and kick the wall. I start to cry harder.

" Was I not good enough for him?" I think during my mental break down. "Why would he want a new family? This is all my fault!" I continue to think.
