Isn't it funny how everyone just doesn't want Tuesday to be happy? I mean, think about it, everyone says that they wish that there wasn't any Mondays, then, in turn, Tuesday would become the beginning of the week, then everyone would wish that Tuesday wasn't a thing. Can't we just leave Tuesday be? And, I would say the same for Monday, but I hate Monday, but would I want it to be no more? No, you see, I wouldn't do that to Tuesday.
And, as you can imagine, it's Tuesday. My personal favorite day of the week, for not protesting the fact that they are fine where they are as the third day of the week, second day of the work week.
Closing my locker, I was surprised to see my best friend, Teddy Scotts walking over to me. Usually, she goes straight to the bus after school.
"Hi!" she said, perkier than her normal self.
"Hey." I replied, slinging my backpack over one shoulder. "Aren't you supposed to be, like; gone?" I asked, laughing at her jumpy step.
"Oh, I'm practicing math with Ms. Rosewall. So, isn't Landon supposed to be at your mom's party on Friday?" she looked at me hopefully. My mom was starting her very own beauty salon and shop and her very first day open was today, hence the party. Landon was one of the models that she hired to show off her styles. Teddy has been obsessed with him ever since she saw him on his resume while we were helping my mom at her store.
"Yes, he is going to be there." she jumped up and down, clapping with just her fingers. I laughed and she hurried down the hall shouting, "See you tomorrow, Cass!" I rolled my eyes and continued walking.
Since my dad was principal, he drove me home after school instead of me having to walk because our house was just close enough to not be in the bus zone.
As I was walking to his office, I heard him talking and as I continued on, I saw him talking to a family of three, probably a new student to the school. As I walked through the front office to get to his room, I smiled and waved to everyone behind the front desk.
I was about to sit and wait for dad to be done when he saw me and beckoned me into the room that had barely enough room for five people, a bookshelf, and my dad's huge desk.
"Cass, hey honey." he came over and gave me a kiss on the forehead. "This is my daughter, Cassidy, she also goes to Low Valley High." I held out my hand and shook their hands.
When I saw the son, I was almost winded. He was drop dead hot. With gelled back, dark brown hair. A jawline that was so sharp it could probably slice through butter, and eyes that look like melted chocolate. He had a casual I don't care look.
I suddenly felt very self conscious in my loose rose sweater and white jeggings with short blonde hair and black, damaged combat boots.
"Well, since we still need to talk for a while, why doesn't Cassidy show Derk around the school?" his mom asked.
"Well, I'm not sure about that." my father said nervously. I looked at him quizzically. I show new kids around the school all the time. The mother looked at him pointedly.
"Your daughter will show my son around school, okay?" I furrowed my eyebrows while my father nodded. Derk started out of the room, and, with nothing else to do, I followed.
"Here's my schedule." he said, handing me a piece of folded paper. The look on his face was like he was a starving man and I was a juicy piece of steak. I turned around so I couldn't see him and opened the paper.
"Okay, so your locker is on the second floor." I quickly walked up the nearest set of steps and tried to get as far away from him as possible in the process.
