If you live in America like I do, it's a mess. Trump didn't win, fear won. There have been so many hate crimes in the past two days. People think it's acceptable to objectify women and attack countless minorities and religions and races.
Everything is so violent and vile.
That black kid down the street that you never talk to and has been absent to school the last two days, he's at home so distraught over this travesty that he can't bring himself to go outside.
That openly gay kid that you share homeroom and 5th period with that's been laughing more than usual, they're hiding their sadness with jokes and laughter and quietly questioning why they came out.
That Muslim girl that you talk to on the bus, hasn't been wearing her hijab out anymore. She does that because her very religious parents are concerned for her safety and don't let her wear it out.
You didn't elect trump as president you elected sexism, homophobia, ignorance and racism as president.
I know it's a hard time for all of us but we must prevail and carry onward. We can't change what has happened but we can change the future. Next election, everyone who can, vote.
We can kick this fear and pain out. We can do this. Keep your head up high and remember you are not alone in this fight, you army.
I'm affected greatly by this. As a member of the lgbtqa+ community I am scared to be myself and love who I love but I am trying my best not to let it get to me. When I heard that he got elected, I started crying. I cried not only for me but for all the other people that have it worse than I do. We HAVE to stick together guys. We can not go into hiding. We have to show that we are willing to put up a fight for our basic human rights. We can do this because we are the future.
