Beezie's POV
We were walking home when we got a text from Max-
Max: hey
Me: hi
Max: so um, you kinda have to be on the run, it is in a rule book
Me: 'Kay, I will go home, pack and leave
Max: thanks for being so cool about this! PS come to My office later, we need to chat!I looked at Callie's face. Callie was excited to be on the run. I wasn't so sure.
I packed my last needed item and zipped my bag. I lazily tossed the bag out of my open window into the crisp air where I knew Callie caught it. "Mom! Dad!" I called, "I'm leaving!" My parents are really kind about this kind of stuff, "honey, be safe," Mom said, giving me my last, warm, loving mom hug. I felt a fat tear start to inch down my cheek. Mom was crying to. "Call us, we will always answer!" Dad said reassuringly. "Yeah right," I muttered to myself recalling our tendency to not answer the phone.
We rode to Max's office and found him dead on the floor. Beside him was a note that said,
If you go home your parents will have a similar fate.I quietly traced the outline of my parents face's on the picture as I looked up at the stars. I than, silently walked back to the tent. We had a "porch"on our tent and a blow up mattress made of blue silk. Why am I saying we? I slept in the tent while Callie stood guard.
I woke up to a fresh cooked breakfast from Callie and a warm day. I basked in the sunlight on the porch and called mom, dad was at work.
"Hi?" I asked
"Hi hon!"
"Thanks for the tent"
"No problem, how's it going?"
"Fine"
Pause
"Come home, we miss you,"
"Maybe for the holidays"
"Baby"
I began to cry so I hung up."BEEZIE!" Called Callie, "yeah?" I answered wiping away the last of my tears, "look," than she showed me a wanted flier with our faces on it. Someone. Wants. To. Kill. Us.
