(Sorry for the generic title guys)
It's been ten years since that fateful day in Gravity Falls, and still the Pines Twins sat in the same seats they sat on summer after summer, once again returning to Gravity Falls. The bus driver knew them only as "that one pair of twins with the crazy relatives."
The driver stopped the bus, and opened the door, "Alright, here's your stop"
Mabel thanked him, and Dipper nodded at him, keeping quiet. Mabel smiled at her brother and put her arm over his shoulder, "C'mon DipDop, smile for me."
Dipper looked at his sister, flashing a slight grin, "Sorry, I'm a bit nervous..."
Mabel gave him reassuring squeeze. "You'll do fine Dipper... it's only been a year since we've been here."
Dipper smiled and looked away, "Yeah.." It wasn't the visit he was worried about though. He'd recently read an article about a mystery investigator suddenly disappearing, the only thing found was his phone, completely wiped of contact info, but a picture was on it, the EVER so haunting photo of a statue, or the eye of it...
He didn't tell Mabel, she would worry more than he did, he didn't want that.Turns out the twins were dropped off about a mile away from the Shack.
Shit. Dipper thought to himself.
Mabel adjusted her backpack and fluffed her now short hair, she looked at Dipper, "Looks like we're gonna have to walk bro."
Dipper sighed and looked ahead, "Looks like it." He started to walk briskly, Mabel following closely behind.
About 20 minutes later they arrived at the Shack, and noticed, that still the large, poorly constructed building was still standing. Mabel smiled.
Dipper walked forward, a little more slowly, to the front door of the Shack, Mabel ran past him.
Swinging the door open, the twins were greeted by a chorus of voices, "Welcome back Mabel and Dipper!!"
The twins were bombarded by hugs and questions.
"Hey Dipper, how'd that writing degree go for you?" Dipper laughed and flashed a thumbs up.
"Mabel! Did you cut your hair?!" To which Mabel replied with a shy grin.
A tall red-head came up to them, her hair swishing gently behind her, "Hey." She said nonchalantly.
Dipper stopped mid sentence and smiled at Wendy. Mabel swooped in and hugged her at the waist, lifting her up.
"Wendy!! I've missed you so much!! How've you been?" She said enthusiastically.
Wendy laughed. "I've been fine. Yourselves?"
Mabel put her down smiling widely. "I've been great!"
Dipper hugged Wendy, a little less violently, "I'm better than usual"
Mabel was already gone talking to people striking up new conversations every 5 seconds.
Wendy looked at Mabel and turned back to Dipper, hugging him tightly.
"Dipper... I need to talk to you.."
He felt his face heat up, "Yeah. What is it Wendy??"
She pulled him into the empty kitchen, Wendy sighed.
"I'm sure you've heard of that article and the missing investigator?" She asked.
Dipper felt his heart sink, "Yeah.. and I saw the picture in the evidence."
Wendy's face grew solemn.
Dipper sighed, "What is it Wendy?"
"The man who went missing was my husband." She said.
Dipper's eyes widened, he didn't think Wendy would be the one to get married, anyone else, sure, but she was so carefree.
He saw tears gather in Wendy's eyes, she collapsed into his arms crying.
"Everyone says he's dead! But I know he isn't, the cops found no evidence of struggle or blood. He can't be dead. He just can't." She sobbed.
Dipper patted her head. He knew, however reluctant, what he had to do.
"I'll find him."Wendy's grip around him got tighter, "thank you Dipper."
"Yeah.." Dipper said.
Mabel Pov
Mabel saw Dipper and Wendy in the kitchen, she sighed. Doesn't he know she's taken? Jeez Dip.
Someone walked up beside her, and gasped.
Mabel jumped and swiftly turned around.
A very nice looking Pacifica stood behind her, smiling.
"I wonder if he knows she's single."Mabel frowned. "Single?"
"Yeah, her husband died last week." She said nonchalantly.
"What?! Really. Oh my I'm so sorry!" Mabel apologized.
"Don't apologize, everybody has been avoiding her, she's delusional, believes that he's still alive or some bullshit like that." She said crossing her arms. "And knowing your brother, he'll try and fix the impossible, and get him," she laughed "I know Dipper can do amazing things, but even he can't bring people back from the dead."
Mabel stood in slight shock, mouth agape.
Pacifica patted her mouth close, "You know I'm right, I'd tell Dipper he can't do it if I were you, we don't want Wendy to be broken hearted now, do we?" She stated as she turned and walked away, her long blonde hair swishing behind her.
She turned around and saw Dipper standing behind her, eyes narrowed.
Mabel stuttered "D-Dipper!"
Dipper looked her in the eye, "Do you not believe me? Do you not think I can do this?"
"Of course I do! But if you are you have to have your other half!! Mystery twins?" Mabel spouted quickly.
Dipper smiled, and swooped in, grabbing Mabel by the waist, spinning her around, "Mystery twins!"
Mabel and Dipper waited till after the welcoming party to head out, heading into the evening forest, ready to find the statue with the one eye, and a hand ready to make a deal...
