A girl had walked through the door of Starbucks café that fall afternoon. Thankfully for Alec, it wasn't too crowded like every other day. He looked up from the register to spot her.

As soon as his eyes landed on her, it was like time had stopped altogether. All she had done was walk through the door and nothing more. His mouth had parted slightly and he was on the verge of drooling but he was snapped back to reality by the woman in front of him. "Hello? Young man. I said I'd like my coffee to be decaf, with soy milk. Oh and no whipped cream," she practically demanded.

Alec sighed. Working at Starbucks sucked sometimes. The perks of having the job was meeting new people everyday. But it was annoying to always smile at customers, even if he was in a sour mood.

But he was good at keeping his emotions inside. He turned around and worked the coffee machine, pouring in the ingredients like he was mixing up a potion. 'No, that was a terrible analogy,' he thought to himself. He handed his coffee to the snobbish woman and went back to the register to greet the next customer. He was surprised to see the beautiful girl that walked through the door.

"Hi. What could I get for you," he said, trying his utmost not to gape at her. She wore a pair of skinny jeans which hugged her legs beautifully and an oversized hoodie with the hood covering her hair. She seemed so... Normal. She was pretty without even trying. She was one of the few girls to capture his attention. There were many beautiful women in this universe. But none of them interested him. He had always longed to find a girl who could capture his soul by just walking into a room. It seemed as though the universe had granted his wishes.

"Um... I'd like a vanilla latte double espresso, low fat milk with whipped cream. Tall." Her voice was soft and low pitched, but crystal clear. He nodded in response. "Name?"

"Esme."

'Gorgeous,' he thought to himself. 'Just like you. ' He turned around to make her order and out of the corner of her eye he saw her walking to the collection point. "So Esme... How are you tonight?" Alec asked, wanting to make conversation with her. Her head snapped up and she looked at him. "Oh I'm good," she said with a small smile. She pulled the hood of her jacket back and she pulled out that was holding her hair together. She shook out her hair and Alec stared. 'Woah,' he thought. She had gorgeous hair. It was a beautiful shade of brown, like light red burl piece of wood. He had to do something to get her attention.

His mind raced. He assumed based on her looks that she wasn't one for flirting. So he ruled that out. Maybe Alec hadn't the foggiest idea but he knew he had to focus on the task at hand. He pulled out a venti cup and pour her coffee into it. As soon as he was done, he leaned over and handed the coffee cup to her. She accepted it and when she realized it wasn't the size she had ordered, "You didn't order this right?" Alec said quickly. She nodded and opened her mouth but Alec interrupted. "Don't worry. On the house," he flashed her subtle wink. "Thank you," she said, with a pleasant smile and walked out of the café; and possibly, out of his life.
