Lucy POV
I settled into my aged desk in my apartment, Happy sleeping on my bed soundly. I sighed, tired after a busy day. If by busy you mean sitting at the guild moping all day. I thought to myself.
Plucking out a quill I snatched a piece of paper. I wiped at my eyes quickly and thought of what to write.
Dear Natsu, good start. Now what?
I miss you so badly. I let my emotions take over and my hand moved on it's own.
The guild misses you. Happy misses you. Why did you have to be an idiot? We could have figured something out. You didn't... A tear fell off my cheek as I recalled that day.
That day...
We were all battered and bruised. Our enemy was tough, even Erza had trouble with him. Natsu stood up shakily. I watched him stare down the bad guy. "We have to think of something." I said shakily.
Natsu shook his head. "What do you mean, 'no' Flame-brain!" Gray shouted. Natsu tilted his head so his face was covered with his bangs.
"I have an idea. But it's stupid." He sharply said. I shook my head wildly. "Then don't do it Natsu!" He ignored me and ran forward.
"Natsu!!"
Everything happened in slow motion as a white light flashed, ripping through Natsu's side. He let out a fire dragon roar as he slowly went down, taking the enemy out with him.
All of us were too shocked to do anything. I was the first to snap out of it, rushing to Natsu while screaming his name. He landed on the floor with a large thud, blood gushing out of his abdomen. I held Natsu's upper half carefully, his eyes starting to fade.
"Natsu! No no no you can't die. You're Natsu, you always come back. Don't leave me!" I shouted at him, trying to make him see that. He shook his head slightly and touched my hand with his shaky one.
"It'll be fine, Luce." He said, coughing out a lot of blood. Happy cried into Natsu's scarf, now almost drenched in blood. His blood. He reached up to said scarf and pulled, making it come loose and slip off.
"W-what are you doing Natsu?!" I cried, my tears blurring my eyes. I felt something warm around my neck, and wiping away my tears I saw it was Natsu's scarf.
"N-Natsu....." I sobbed. He stroked Happy's head, and turned, wincing, at Erza. "Erza..." He croaked. "Y-yes Natsu?" Erza asked, tears in her own eyes.
"Tell me the rules of leaving Fairy Tail..." We all stopped short. "Natsu! I can't do-I won't..." Erza couldn't find the words. Natsu's eyes pleaded with their last strength. Erza took a deep breath.
"1! You must never reveal sensitive information about Fairy Tail to others for as long as you live!" Erza was full on crying now, for she-we- all knew Natsu wasn't coming back. "2! You must never use former contacts met through your being in the guild for personal gain!" We all watched in horror as Natsu smiled and slowly closed his onyx eyes, his hand drooping from Happy's head.
We all fell silent. "Idiot." Erza mumbled. "You didn't let me finish..."
End of flashback
My hand was shaking, my tears becoming uncontrollable. I forced myself to continue with the letter.
You were an idiot. Why did you do that to us? I never.... I never got a chance to say I love you, Natsu! I've loved you since we first met! How am I supposed to love you now that you're gone! Several of my tears were splattering the page. But that's not why I stopped. I felt a hand on my shoulder. A warm one. I turned around, hopeful.
There right in front of me, was Natsu, faded with an outline. "Natsu...." I whispered as I watched him disappear, that stupid grin on his handsome face.
'I love you too Luce...' It ran through my mind, and I smiled, my tears becoming less.
