A Letter From My Father { ONE SHOT }

A LETTER FROM MY FATHER

*DING DONG*

     I ran towards the door. Peeked into the hole.

It's the mailman.

Huh? The mailman?

I've never ever got a mail before.

I opened the door.

The mailman gave me a white envelope.

I get it and smiled at him; he also smiled back.

I closed the door and sat on the chair.

I tore the envelope and opened the letter.

Yep! It's a letter. Not money or any bank stuffs.

Just a letter with no name written on it.

I opened it.

Mmmmm. . . it smells like strawberries; my mom's favorite.

The letter says:

My dearest Savannah,

                    Hey baby girl! I really hope you will read this letter instead of tearing it into pieces which i thought you'd be doing it right now.

               It's been almost 8 years since the last time i saw you. So, i'm expecting that you've become a beautiful lady just like your mother.

             I just wanna say i'm sorry for everything. I know that maybe right now, you're crying. Not because you missed me but beacause of the anger i've caused, that's kept in your heart.That's why i am truly sorry. I'm sorry for leaving you and your mother behind. For not giving you the support that you needed. For not giving you and letting you feel the love that you want from your father. For not giving you advice about love, for not questioning your suitors if they are serious about you or not. For not protecting you.

                  I don't know if you can still forgive me because of leaving you behind and for not claiming you as my own daughter. You don't know how sorry i am. It was the biggest mistake of my life. I hope you would also understand that i also have a family and grandchildrens. Savannah, they're twins!

           But i know you wouldn't...

          I know you wouldn't understand . Who am i to be understood by my daughter that i can't even claim? I hate myself. I hate myself for not loving you and for not realizing my mistake.

           Savannah, i am so proud of you. I'm so proud of you because you grew up without me. Without a father.

            I hope you can still forgive me. I know it's too late for asking you an apology but i pray that you will take it.

               Lastly, i wanna say...

           I've been waiting to say this to you for a long time but i'm scared and nervous at the same time. That's why i'm gonna write this here, in this very letter that Savannah, I LOVE YOU.

              Yes! You're father loves you. I can't say this to you personally but i love you as my daughter.

I'm expecting that by the time you read this, you'll never gonna see me again. Savannah, i'm in the hospital. I'm suffering cancer right now. Liver cancer to be exact. Stage 4.

           Lastly, good luck in everything you do and make sure it really makes you happy. Always remember that i am always here for you. I'm always here to support you. I pray that you will have a bright future and that you can also find a man. A man that will love you until his last breath. 'Cause even if i'm gone now, you will still have your knight in shining armor to protect you.
