I STAND ALONE

In the dark of the night I rest my head

I close my eyes and drift away

When I'm awake I grasp at straws

But in my dreams, my castle holds

In the dead of the night nature comes alive

The tick and the tock are but songs of the clock

I jump at the sight of my own shadow

I am plagued by demons I cannot fathom

In my dreams the fear is my own

When I look upon its face, when I feel it in my veins

I know it, I recognise it, and sometimes I embrace it

Because it is not unknown and it will not go

In the cold of the night I rest my head

And in my dreams the snow begins to fall

Its too cold for my ghosts to haunt

And so, by God, as the black turns to white

I STAND ALONE.
