"i know your parents saved up a lot of money for you to go to college. you're super smart, baby girl. i knew from the start that you were gonna come out of college a doctor or something," michael whispered into kiera's ear, grazing his lips against her cartilage before taking a deep breath. "and you know.. i'm sorry for taking that away from you; i stripped you of that opportunity. but promise me, darling, i will make it up to you."

michael sat kiera up, leaning her against the headboard before clapping his hands together and sitting up himself. he looked around the room and for something creative for the two to do, so kiera would not be bored - of corse.

his eyes were magnetized to the television remote. he beamed for joy as he reached for his remote, leaning his arm out from under the warm bedsheets. he turned the tv on, making the electronic light up with the news.

the news was covered in the same story of a missing girl who had parents that would pay whatever it took to bring her home safe.

michael's eyes became fixed on the reporter as he heard "a search party has been sent out for the young lady and a one million reward has been placed by parents for anyone that can mark the location of their daughter" come off of her lips

michael took a deep breath and gently shrugged. he put his hand on kiera's thigh, moving it up and down while looking for the right words to say. he looked at her, hoping for a smile before he sighed once more.

"i won't let anything bad happen to you, kiera," he breathed, his breath airy and lacking support. he pat her thigh before changing the television to a different, more upbeat channel. he laid back into his sheets, tucking both he and kiera in as he signaled for her to flip over, before flipping her onto her side himself due to her lack of obedience.

he wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin upon her shoulder. he brushed her auburn hair off of her neck, before gently pressing his lips against the cold, sensitive skin on her neck.

"don't be scared kiera," michael whispered into her ear, turning his head towards a game show that was displayed on the tv. "you're safe with me."
