The pair burst into laughter, their voices slicing through the silent night. They sat cross-legged under the moonlight, in front of the dormitory which by then was peacefully quiet.
Henley exhaled slowly, taking in the cool night air as she rested her head on Marc's shoulder. For awhile they sat in silence, enjoying each other's company to the fullest. Eventually, it was Henley who spoke.
❝Hey, uh, Marc?❞
❝Hmm?❞
❝Thank you.❞
❝For tonight? Yeah I enjoyed it too,❞ Marc smiled, looking down at her. She sat close to him, both for warmth and because she felt more than comfortable beside him.
❝No,❞ she chuckled, looking up into his eyes, ❝for truly being my lifeline.❞
Marc gazed at her, the corners of his lips curling into a smile. Slowly, he leaned down, giving her the kiss that he had been wanting to for so long. The best part? Henley kissed him back.
Henley knew that help wasn't the only thing she had gotten from Marc. And for being the lifeline, Marc knew he had received the best thing in return. Love.
