"Take care, Jung-ri," my mother says as she hugs me tightly, tears rolling down her cheeks. I can't help but cry as well because for the first time in 18 years, I am leaving my house. All by myself.
I will surely miss them; my parents, my friends and the people in my neighborhood. You see, I am about to leave for college. I will be staying in a dorm close to the campus. My family was worried about me because I was going to a renowned prestigious college called Sung-in College. I managed to get in through a scholarship. I may not be rich, but I am smart. I was the smartest kid in my previous high school.
My mother broke free from me and squeezed my hand, "My baby is such a grown-up now, I know you will do fine there. Make us proud, okay?" I nodded and pursed my lips, looking around our house. This is the house I grew up in, this is the place where most of my memories were made. Leaving this place was like letting go of a big part of me. But I knew I had to be strong. For my family to have a good life.
My younger siblings approached me and gave me a bone-crunching hug. I could tell that they didn't want to let go; so did I.
I looked down at them and smiled brightly, "I promise if I come back home for summer vacation, I'll bring back lots of toys and chocolates for you guys, mmkay?" They all nodded eagerly and smiled their biggest smiles. It warmed my heart.
I clenched the handle of my suitcase tightly and trotted towards the door, dragging my suitcase behind me. I looked back and waved goodbye while fat blobs of tears were streaming down my face. It ruined my eye makeup, but I couldn't care less. My mother and my younger siblings shouted their goodbyes. I closed the door and walked towards my cab who was waiting outside the house.
Hello, college life.My cab dropped me off in front of the dorm building. I looked up and it was the tallest building I've ever seen. Its exterior painting was colored white, giving off that elegant vibe. I counted the floors. 40 floors. I gasped and people looked at me like I was some crazy person.
I hurriedly walked towards the grand entrance and the inside of the dorm building was even more elegnant. There was a chandelier hanging up on the tall ceiling and there was a red carpet leading to the counter. I thought to myself, "Is this my dorm or is this a hotel?" I was dumbfounded. Anyways, I walked to the counter and gave the lady my dorm certificate. She examined me from head to toe and her eyebrows were raised. I suddenly felt self-conscious and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. I wore the best outfit I had, a ruffled blue off-shoulder with high-waisted jet black jeans. I paired it with my pair of black sneakers that my mom gifted me for my 16th birthday. But judging from the lady's expression, it was clearly not enough to impress the rich people surrounding me. "Your dorm is room 208, which is at the 14th floor. Here's your key and here's a map of the entire dorm building." she said with a bored, monotone voice. I was about to leave but then she said, "Oh, I almost forgot. You have a roommate." I gave her a perky smile and headed towards the elevator. A roommate? I sure hope it's a girl.
Here I was, standing in front of my dorm room. I was staring at the golden number plate 208 was engraved on it. I grasped the doorknob and barged it open.
My eyes widened at the horrible sight in front of me.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
