Cameron's POV

Another boring Wednesday. The day drags on. Never ending. My teachers are brats making me feel useless. Why am I at college? It seems like every day my teachers find some excuse to shout at me. I won't even have to do anything apart from sit there. Guilt by association. So unfair.
I wish I had gone straight into a job. I constantly look at the clock. 30 more minutes. 15 more minutes. 5 more minutes. After what feels like forever, the teacher finally dismisses us. Home time. Except it's not really home time. I live on site. But it's like my home and my flat mates are like my family.

A little about me now. I'm Cameron. 5 foot tall. Blue hair. Tomboy. Mentally unwell. All round boring person to be honest.
I study photography at college. I specify in equine photography though. Sometimes landscapes. Horses are my life though. They are my rock.

When I get back at 3·30, I roll myself a cigarette and wait for my mates to get back from class. Evenings are boring at first. But we either do an activity or just sit around smoking all night.

5.30 soon rolls around. We all head to dinner together and sit in our usual seats that we occupy every meal. Burger and chips. Looks like I'm not eating tonight. I'm a really fussy eater plus I need to lose some weight. I grab a bottle of water and head to the till.

"Not eating tonight Cameron?" The warden Steve asks me.
"I had a big lunch," I said as I handed over my money and went to sit down. I saw him give me a 'sympathy' smile. I got those on a regular basis, especially from Steve.

"We have a new warden joining us tonight," Steve announced as we sat eating (or not in my case) dinner.

"His name is James and he is one of the sports lecturers. He will be here at 8.30 and we will be opening up the sports hall for the activity tonight."

I normally go to the activities anyway, otherwise I just spend the whole night smoking which I know isn't good. Plus I need to lose some weight so anything active I should do.

It took forever for 8.30 to come around. I wrote a couple of paragraphs for one of my assignments that was due in a few days but other than that I smoked about 5 cigarettes. 8.30 finally came around so I dragged my best friend Malcolm with me.

He was like me, he loved sports so it was easy to persuade him to come. Plus i was interested to see who this new warden was.

As soon as I walked in, there he was. Blond hair, blue eyes, stubble beard. Simply drop dead gorgeous.

"This is James everyone." Steve said to everyone in the hall. He is the new warden and will be running tonight's activity to get to know you guys.

"Hey everyone, I was thinking we could play some badminton tonight? I've got a few games planned but first we can just play and see how long we can make a rally last."

It just gets better and better. His voice... oh my goodness his voice was to die for. It was deep and raspy but yet so soothe and calming.

We set up the nets, grabbed our racquets and waited for further instructions.
I suddenly saw him walking towards me. I could feel my heart beat start to race out of control.
"What's your name?" He asked me. It took a few moments for me to realise that he had asked me a question. "Cameron," I eventually managed to choke out.

"Right Cameron, you can play against me." He smirked as he handed me the shuttlecock, his hand glossing over mine. "You can serve."
It felt like my heart had stopped because it was beating so fast. I couldn't help but stare at him as he walked away to the other side of the court.

The pressure was on now. I felt the need to impress and not make a fool out of myself. I had played badminton back in high school but I wasn't very good so God knows what he was going to think of me.

~~~~~~~~
Turns out better than I thought. I mean, he still won but I didn't fall flat on my arse like I had expected.
"You have a great swing on you Cameron," he said walking over to me. He offered out his hand for a handshake. I couldn't believe it. Yet again, I had the chance to touch him. "Thanks," I muttered as I shook his hand. How can someone's hand be so soft? I thought to myself. It was incredible.
Is this what it feels like to be falling in love?
