Harry wasn't fully awake, but he could feel the heat of another body against his. He slowly opened his eyes and let himself adjust to the bright glare of the sun through the window. Then, he peered down at the small figure against him. Louis was facing Harry, his nose pressed to his chest and his hot breaths puffing against his neck. His light brown hair was tussled over his cheeks and his ears, and his long eyelashes brushed against his cheekbones. Louis's small hands were attached to Harry's t-shirt and his legs were fit between Harry's. At first, Harry felt himself beginning to blush at their position, but the warmth and comfort of being so...close to this tiny, beautiful boy made his embarrassment go away.
Harry closed his eyes and sighed, breathing in the smell of Louis and feeling the softness of his skin on his fingertips.
"Good morning." Harry rasped quietly, his lips hovering just above Louis's forehead.
Louis made a small groan, his eyebrows furrowing slightly as he unconsciously leaned into Harry's body, nudging his head into the crook of his shoulder.
"Louis."
Harry watched in awe as Louis's eyelashes slowly fluttered open. He thought he'd never seen anything as beautiful. Now aware of their position, Louis's bright eyes widened in embarrassment, a blush springing to his cheeks. Words were forming on his lips, but he seemed too flustered to voice them.
"Um, I uh...I just-"
Harry leaned into Louis's body, nuzzling into the curve of his neck and showing him that there wasn't a need to apologize. He didn't mind this, he actually liked it. Louis was silent, frozen for a second before he melted into Harry's embrace, feeling their closeness and strong arms around him and the warmth of his skin. They didn't talk for a moment, just breathing each other in.
"Louis, why are you scared of thunderstorms?"
Louis thought about it for a minute, not really remembering or knowing why exactly he disliked thunderstorms so much.
"Uh, I-I don't know, really," he said quietly.
It was quiet again. Louis breathed a sigh of contentment and Harry's fingers swirled in patterns on his back. Harry hesitantly raised his hand and gently brushed strands of Louis's feathery hair out of his eyes. Louis buried his head into Harry's t-shirt and placed a kiss to the center of his chest.
"Do you want some breakfast, Lou?" Harry asked, slowly sitting upright and climbing out of bed."
"That'd be lovely, thanks."
They walked down the stairs together and Louis sat at the kitchen table, watching Harry as he pushed some eggs around in a sizzling pan. Louis was never much of a chef, and it seemed incredible that Harry actually knew what he was doing as he added different ingredients into the eggs. Almost in a daze, Louis barely noticed when Zayn slumped down the stairs. The tired boy's eyes suddenly widened with shock as he saw Louis and Harry actually in the same room. He looked over at Louis incredulously and glanced between the two boys with a surprised expression.
"Good....morning,"Zayn choked out slowly, creeping back up the stairs as if not to ruin the moment.
Harry hummed in response and Louis offered a small smile before Zayn rushed back upstairs, probably to confer with the other boys about this 'unbelievable' getting along between two former enemies.
Harry shuffled over to the table, balancing two plates full with fluffy eggs in his hands. He set them on the table and placed forks next to them, taking a seat across from Louis.
"Thanks, Harry," Louis said softly, "these are delicious."
"I try my best," he smirked.
Louis grinned at the playful side of Harry that he'd just discovered. It was cheeky...cute. He wondered if there were any other parts of Harry, different personalities that he would find later on. If their--what was it, a relationship? Friendship?--went on any further. Maybe it wasn't just a friendship. The kiss... No, it surely was more than that. He remembered what had happened just weeks before...
