16 years later...
"MOM! WHERE ARE MY SHOES?" Emma yells downstairs to her mom, who is washing the dishes.
"I PUT THEM IN THE CLOSET!" She replied. It was April 22, 2016. This was Emma's first Prom. She had just turned sixteen on the 18th.
Emma's dress was a beautiful blue, satin dress, and she was wearing silver heels to go with it. Her long, blond hair was curled, and the front was pulled back into a waterfall braid. Emma's eyes seemed very large, with the black winged eyeliner. She had bronze eyeshadow with long, fake lashes, and bright red lips. Emma was very skinny, and she had very long legs.
She found her shoes, and put them on. She was going with her best friend, Lizzie, because they both didn't have dates. Emma had not gotten her driver's license yet, but she had been practicing, so her and Diana went to pick up Lizzie. Lizzie has similar makeup, except she had nude lipstick on. Her dress was a shimmering silver satin dress that went down to her knees. She had short brown hair that was straightened, and she twisted her bangs so they were out if her face.
When the girls got to the dance, they were so exited! Neither of them had been to a school dance before because their high school, Cheval high, had not had a homecoming for over 5 years, and their middle school and elementary school didn't have dances either. According to the principals, "they are too young for that kind of stuff."
An hour of dancing, food, and fun passed. The gymnasium, where they held the dance, was full of people, music, and flashing lights. Emma and Lizzie wanted a break from dancing, so they went outside to cool off.
Emma's worst enemy since 3rd grade, Sarah, was walking towards them. Sarah is very bossy, and thinks she's better than everyone else. When Sarah got to Emma and Lizzie, she pushed Emma backwards. She tripped on her heels, and fell into a huge mud pile that splattered everywhere! Everyone started laughing at her, but Lizzie did what she was wanting to do since 3rd grade when Sarah "accidentally" pushed her off the slide at recess.
She said, "Why. Sarah, why do you do these things to people? Do you think it's funny? Do you think you'll become more popular? Why? It's not funny! How would you like it if someone pushed you off the slide, or pushed you into mud at your very first school dance? Tell me! How would you feel!"
At this remark Sarah stepped back. "Oh I don't know how I'd feel because nobody ever did that to me."
"Would you like to?"
"Of course not!"
"Well then don't do hurt others! Now go away or I'll kick your little $400 dress with this mud!"
"HA! No you won't! You don't have the guts."
"Try me"
At this, Sarah and her sidekicks ran. Lizzie turned around to help Emma out of the mud, but saw that a handsome young man was helping her up. He had rushed to Emma the second she fell in the mud. His eyes were gleaming blue, and his hair was messy and brown. He looked about the same age as them too. Emma asked what his name was. "James." He said. "I'm Emma."
"I love it."
"Thanks"
Lizzie walked over, because she saw Emma's face. She was staring at him, and he was staring at her. "This must be true love" Lizzie thought. James then pulled Emma up, and took her and Lizzie back home. "What's your phone number?" He asked Emma. She told him hers, and he told her his.
Emma told her mom and dad what had happened, and her parents hugged her, then told her to go wash off. "At least that dress wasn't $400 like Sarah's" she thought.
The next morning, Emma woke up to a ringing on her phone. She picked it up and said sleepily, "hello?"
"Hi Emma! This is James."
"Oh hi James!" She replied suddenly snapping into reality.
"Hey...I was wondering if you wanted to go out tonight..."
