I woke up to the sound of the boy humming.he was brushing down the quarter horse I saw out in the field only a few short days ago. But up close there was more to her than I had seen in the field she had a long scar on her leg and her face had spots from where scars had grown over but fur no longer grew and all u could see was skin. She was an old horse and she looked slow going too. The boy gently brushed her and put her back in her stall. It was a miserable day rain showers down and the wind howled.
Then he took out a old bay horse from the stall next to mine he said "hi willow" to her and she whinnied gently back to him. The boy seemed to like willow a lot and willow seemed to like the boy a lot. He took his time brushing willow and talked to her in a gentle voice.
When the boy got to me he took me out and brushed me too he told me that he had thought of some good names for me. His favourite was Abraham after a big horse that reminded him of me. He told me that Abe looked just like me when he was a clot. I was excited he was talking to me and I liked the name Abe so I gave him a nice loud Winnie and laughed at the ground. "Ya like that name boy well I guess we will just have to keep it". After he had finished all the horses willow told me she thought Abe was a good horse and that that name suited me. I said thank you to her and asked if she wanted to be my friend. She did of corse and so we talked for a long time. I found out the boys name was Sam and she knew Sam ever since he was a boy, Sam was the one who came up with my name too. He is the one who takes care of us, he does have parents but his father is always drunk and the mother hates horses and only sees them when she has to.
After a while I asked willow about the quarter horse and willow told me that her name was rusty and she was beaten by Sam's father ,that was why she had a scar on her leg. The scars on her face was from her last owners and rusty told me that they left a bridle on her for over a year and it became to tight and so her skin grew over it and they had to rip it out.
By the time me and Willow where done talking the rain had stopped and the sun had gone we both decided to go to bed, I laid down closed my eyes and instantly fell asleep.
