SAMANTHA POV
I opened my eyes to see the brightness coming from my window. I groaned internally, because I forgot to close my blinds last night. I begrudgingly got out bed and stretched before going to shut them. I went to the bathroom, that happens to link into my room, to take a quick shower.
After washing myself thoroughly but quickly, I got out, wrapping a towel around myself, and walked back into my room, going to the closet to pick something to wear for my first day at a new school.
At least I'll never have to change schools again except for college, I thought to myself.
After putting on some skinny jeans, a plain t-shirt and some vans, I blow dried my blonde hair and put it up in a ponytail, sweeping my bangs to the side. I grabbed my bag and my phone, walking downstairs to the kitchen.
I had only been living with the Coopers for about a week, but they haven't been the greatest. I'm thankful for them giving me a home though.
I noticed they weren't awake yet so I grabbed a granola bar and a water bottle, deciding to eat on the walk to school. I locked the door after walking out and started walking. I was glad it wasn't that long of a walk, I checked it out yesterday.
After reaching the school, I felt many eyes on me. It's a fairly small town so everyone probably knows each other here, me being the odd one out because I'm new. I decided to try and pretend not to notice them and walked into the office so I could get my schedule and things.
Once I got my schedule, I headed to my first class and sat down in the only open chair seeing as the bell was about to ring. It was next to some guy, who kept staring at me which was making me nervous so I kept my head down and began doodling in my notebook.
"Good morning students," the teacher had said, "I see we have a new student, which is exciting because we never get new students!" Oh great. I could've guessed that, considering it was a small town, but now I'm gonna assume most people are going to be talking about 'the new girl.'
"My name is Mrs. Bronberry and this is English, welcome to this school Samantha," she smiled at me and I gave a faint smile back. "Today we're going to start a new book," she began speaking again as some of the students groaned. I peeked over at the guy next to me, who was STILL looking at me. It made me a bit uncomfortable but I am too shy to say anything to him so I just kept my head down as I did earlier, while the teacher passed out the book. She got to my desk and I noticed the book was The Great Gatsby. I hope it's good.
When the bell rang I put all my things away besides my schedule as it would be my only way around the school. I looked at my next class; Math. Trigonometry to be exact. I groaned internally as I tried to find my way to the class.
"Oop!" I exclaimed as I accidentally bumped into someone. I looked up at them with an apologetic expression, "I-I'm sorry, I'm new and I'm just trying to find my way to Mr. Kells class," I managed to spit out. The guy looked at me in confusion and just shrugged and moved about his way. Kind of rude but I did bump into him.
I finally managed to find the class just as the bell started ringing. Just my luck. I sheepishly opened the door to find everyone staring at me because I did just walk in late. "You must be the new kid. I'll excuse the tardy just today but it better not happen again," the teacher spoke sternly. I nodded my head and went to sit in an empty seat near the back after grabbing one of the math books I saw that everyone had.
He started teaching us what was in this lesson and then wrote the assignment on the board which was 20 questions from the chapter in the book. I quietly sighed to myself. Math was never my strong suit. I began working on the assignment hoping I was getting the answers right when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked up to the left to see a smiling face. "Hi," she whispered, "I'm Jessica." I smiled at her, "Samantha," I whispered back. "Oh I already know, people are already talking about the new girl." I blushed and nodded, of course they were. "Anyways, if you needed help with this, just ask me. I love math and this comes easy to me," she smiled again. "Thank you, I probably will need it." She began writing on a small piece of paper and then handed it to me. "That's my number, just text me if you ever need help with the assignments! And of course if you ever wanted to hang out.." she trailed off. My eyes widened, that was really bold. "Oh, uh, okay," I replied back to her, "thank you."
When the bell rang I noticed I wasn't even halfway done with the assignment and I rolled my eyes. "Hey, can I see your schedule?" Jessica asked and I handed it to her. She grinned, "We actually have all the same classes except for first period." I smiled, I might have a friend in this new town after all.
WOWIE FIRST CHAPTER.
I think I'm gonna enjoy re-writing this. Please Vote, Comment, & Share this story. :)
