Chapter One

I was floating... Through what seemed like clouds. No, marshmallows actually. A plate of cookies drifted by, and I grabbed one. Mmmm, triple chocolate with a hint of cinnamon....

"Callie Louise Hearsh! Wake up now!"

My best friend Kait, was hitting me with a textbook and whispering furiously to me. I lifted my head off the desk and looked around. Riiiight. I'm in Maths class, dang it! This was the third time I'd fallen asleep in Maths in the last two weeks. Not that I could help it, though. The teacher, Mrs Hick, isn't exactly the most interesting person to listen to. She looked at me over the top of her black (and surprisingly trendy) glasses. "Miss Hearsh," she said in a steely voice. "Not falling asleep in class, I hope."

"Erm no Miss, of course not. I was just... Looking for my earring. It must of fallen out," I mumbled. Great work Callie. The most professional liar out there. NOT. Kait looked at me and giggled behind her hand, her light blue eyes sparkling. "Nice work Cal!" She mouthed and grinned. Even though I love Kait to the moon and back, she can sometimes be a bit... Aggravating. With her long, straight, waist length brown hair, killer blue eyes, olive skin and a figure to die for, She's stunning. And, might I also add, a bit of a flirt. She always likes to annoy me whenever she can, but just for a laugh though.

"Well Miss Hearsh," Miss Hick said, startling me as she pulled me out of my daze. "To my eyes, I believe it looked like you were enjoying a little down time by having a nap!" The class snickered. "This is the third time you have fallen asleep in my class. Detention in here after school."

Oh hell! I have to pick up my little sister, Bree, this afternoon from school! My mum is going to be so pissed... "Yes Miss. Sorry Miss," I said sheepishly. I put my head down, my curly red hair creating a veil over my face. I have really weird hair, it's sort of strawberry, autumn leaf, fire engine red (if that makes sense) that's frizzy as hell and has to be tamed carefully every morning. It's really annoying, but my best friends, Kait, Emma and Bella, adore it. Pffft. I have pale, creamy-ish skin, dark brown eyes and my height is average, I'm about 170cm. I guess I am overall pretty average, except for my hair. Well, I thought as the bell rang and I packed up my books, you gotta be grateful for what you have.

Kait sauntered over to me, smirking. "Classy, Miss Hearsh. Damn classy," she flicked her hair out of her eyes and takes my arm as we walk out of the classroom to pick up Bella and Emma on our way to the cafeteria. "Oh shut up," I said, trying to hide my smile. As we walked along, Kait tells me about her date with Josh, a guy from her History class.

"I mean, it was pretty good. He took me to this fancy taco place and you KNOW how much I love tacos," Kait rambled on, with me listening to her easy banter and smiling at her talent to have a complete conversation while speed walking to Em and Bel. I dunno, but I am clumsy as hell and have to watch every step I take if I walk faster than my usual pace. All of a sudden I see Bella bounding towards us, her beachy blonde and purple (yes purple) streaked hair bouncing as she half ran, half skipped in our direction.

"HEY!" She squealed, barrelling at me and squeezing me into a bear hug. She then did the same with Kait. Em wandered up behind us, and hooked her arm through mine. "Hey guys," She said happily. Now you decide which of my friends attracts the most attention. -___- I laughed at Bella, and we all walked arm in arm to lunch.

When we sat down at the cafeteria, trays of food in our hands, Bella said, "Did you guys see the new girl?"

"Uhhh nope," Kait and I said at the same time. "I did," Emma said. "She seems nice enough. I said hi to her in English. Her name's Hannah, and she's definitely not socially awkward or anything." I smiled. Emma was always the one to make observations. With her dark coloured shoulder length hair, hazel eyes and creamy skin, she was beautiful and a little shorty. I almost towered above her.
