" Honey, wake up breakfast is ready" my mum shouted from downstairs.
I rolled over blindly looking for my clock 7:00am stared back at me. Uurrrgggghhhh "different day same old shit" I thought. Looking around my room at nothing in particular, my vision settled on a photo frame on my dresser. Immediately turning my head away No I will not think about him today.

" Breakfast is getting cold" my mum said stood at my door bringing me out my thoughts when did she get here?. I hurriedly went into my bathroom and got a shower, wrapping a towel around my waist I walked over to my wardrobe and looked inside. Now let me make myself very clear, I am not one if those girls who spends hours getting ready. I would be happy going to school in a shirt and pair of old trackies but I don't want to die an old spinster who never had a boyfriend so I made a haphazard attempt at picking an outfit. 20 minutes later I settled on my skinny black jeans, crop top with attitude on the front and my black boots. Walking over to my mirror I tied my hair into a messy bun and walked out of my room make up free. I look good without make up and one day someone will think so too and when that day comes, I am never letting him go haha.

Walking into the kitchen, I was pleasantly surprised to see a full English breakfast and a cup of tea on the table.
" ummm what's all this?" I questioned confused and momently distracted by the delicious smell.
" what I can't make an effort for your first day of school". My mum said with a smile. Opps forgot to say it's my first day of school and I'm terrified. We moved at the beginning of the summer from up north so I had six weeks of doing nothing but eating my body weight in pringles and takeaway. Sitting murmuring a quiet " thank you" I dug in, 10 minutes late not a crumb is left on the plate and you know what I dont care or feel ashamed I love food and food loves me.

Looking at the clock behind me I realised I had 15 minutes to get to school, I stood up picking up my and mums plate putting it in the dish washer while she got her keys and put her shoes on. Walking outside I was happy I had a coat on as it was a little chilly, sitting in the car I couldnt help but worry what if I made no friends? What if I'm alone for the rest of the year?

" you're worrying aren't you" mum said turning her head quickly before looking back at the road.
" how could you tell? The sweaty palms, bouncing leg or the twisting of my hair" I laughed. She joined in
" you will be fine, just be yourself and try to make friends" she replied squeezing my hand.
As we pulled up to the gates, I noticed it was like any other school I have been too, same crowds gossiping in the car park and teachers telling the rugby team to stop throwing the ball near cars. I realised the breath I didn't know I was holding and opened the door waving to my mum, stepping out the car onto the parking lot I suddenly realised why I was so nervous as some people turned looking at me, judging me. This is going to be a long day, I thought as I shut the door and made my way through the car park up to the entrance.

I know this is a short first chapter but I would really like people's opinions and helpful tips as this is my first book and I'm nervous about it.

Thanks guys 😊
